If you want bragging rights, nobody will accept your android results.

Hell, even on friendly discussions online, people want to see the vbox file to verify.

I wouldn't trust anything that doesn't have a 10hz gps feed.

I think its good to see if I am still making gains. Again, would love to see how "accurate" it is in comparison.

No speedo in my car, and I dont think this will serve my purpose.

But, it may be a good hack to get a Tack in the car lol. Can this sync with a cheap-o tablet with Bluetooth?

And what makes that better or different than this one?

Thanks for the info!!

What makes the V box better/different than the Qstarz?

I also have the QStarz GPS thing and it works great, I consider it extremely accurate for road courses, I haven't used it for anything else. Whereas the VBOX is a standalone logger, the QStarz is just a GPS module; it needs a phone and an app that supports it. I use TrackMaster, which specifically supports the qstarz thing. The app you linked to says it supports external GPS modules, but there's a million phones and a few different bluetooth GPS modules, so nothing's guaranteed.

Couple of things:

Vbox is waterproof, Qstarz is not....so if you plan to use in rain you have to mount inside the windshield with Qstarz and sometimes don't get the best signal possible

Vbox has built in GPS AND accelerometer Qstarz is just GPS

Some have had issues with reliability with Qstarz, whereas the Vbox just lasts a much longer time.

Basically, if you have the budget for the Vbox and are going to use it ALOT, I would go with Vbox.

I've had my Qstarz since beginning of season last year and mine still works fine today.

Hope that helps.

No first hand experience but this seems to be waterproof, has an accelerometer and has a longer battery than yours. Also can be used as a standalone.

Bluetooth is slow for reading pids scantool sx is USB and gets a lot faster rx/tx

WiFi option is almost as good, stay away from the cheap Chinese elm327 adapters too

On that 10hz gps thing go to newegg or somewhere buy a USB 10hz gps adapter and tadaaa those are only like $99 plus 20 or so for a obdII adapter and whatever a tablet would cost you.... Or just root it and use your phone. :lolguy: cheaper than a vbox
