My brother and I (unknowingly) beat the piss out of them and they were champs at +180k miles. My thoughts are under-tested "technology" in new cars suck. Brake booster is a known issue to ford and they replaced it- also the shuddering/stalling is part of the booster problem- There is a diaphragm inside that tore and was messing with the vacuum system on the car (no surprise) got it back today and seems to be running fine.
