Quadcopter with FPV

I'm pretty heavily into it... what's your budget? If you are just learning, I'd suggest a WLToys V-262 quadcopter... it doesn't do FPV, but it does have a camera and can be purchased from Amazon for 69 dollars... it's a large drone that is easy to fly... see how you feel... as far as options, there's GPS enabled, non-GPS, FPV that's built into the remote, FPV that you use your cell with.. it depends on what you want... As far as what I currently fly, I have a V262, V393, and DJI Phantom 3 Vision+ 4k The Phantom is bad ass, but has a large price tag associated to it.

Like I said, I'd get a cheaper one first and see if it's something you want to do.

I was at microcenter today and they are holding the event and DJI will demo the phantom 3. They also said they are going to have classes on the Phantom, not sure what that means.

I have a syma x1 that I have been learning to fly on right now. I looks like a blast to fly FPV.

My budget is around $400 for the quad and $200 for FPV. I want 5.8ghz FPV because the wifi seems to have lag. What FPV are you you running smoking5s?

I picked up a Quanum Nova last week. I got my 7" display and video tx/rx set up yesterday. I'm going to mount it all today and see what happens. I fly over at Perry (Pheonix) as it's a 5min walk.

Phantom 1 is an older model... the 2 v3.0 had vast improvements and the 3 is even better.... it's amazing how far they have come... I don't know if I posted, but they advertise over a mile with streaming FPV

Just got back from some practice at Perry. I'm getting more comfortable with flying around just not with much height or distance. I can't tell which way it's flying when it gets further away. At that point I just bring it down fast and usually hard so I don't end up in someones yard.

I need to try the RTH out when there isn't soccer practice, etc. I want to get more hours on it before I trust the GPS/computer/whatever.

Hopefully the FPV helps. I still need one more 3S connector to tap into the quads battery for the video tx.

nice! look into upgrading the batteries... and depending on the quad, brushless motors... if they are brushed motors... look into purchasing spares... my 262 I have 10 spare motors just in case... cause ya just never know...

I'm going go start acquiring parts for a DIY quad build. Here's the first in a series of videos that shows the build process and lays out the parts for a good, but affordable build :

And as far as prebuilt multi-rotors go, the Splash Drone looks bad ass! The Inspire-1 is just too damned expensive!

Yeah, the splash would be cool. I got my DJI Phantom and took it for the test flight in the back yard. This thing flys really well and is easy to control. I'm mounting my camera right now. If anyone is interested we should meet up and fly.
