zeitgeist57
For my new BMW head, I'd like to disassemble the valvetrain and try to clean it as much as I can. Does anyone recommend using a parts washer for the head-cleaning job? Thanks!

vonrottes
Put it in your dishwasher. Throw in a bottle of LA's totally awesome and you'll be golden. that is what I used to clean my heads....minus the dishwasher. but hot water helps
Buck531
I just used a lot of brake cleaner. That or simple green or something to that liking and a wire brush.

I don't think you are supposed to use those on aluminum heads

zeitgeist57
Clay, which NAPA are you going to? Did they say it would be a quick turnaround? I took it to the big location on 161 on Friday morning. They said someone would pick it up and give me a quote over the phone within the next couple of days (I assumed they meant business days into this coming week). I was TOLD that the machine work and R&R of cams/springs/valves would only take 3 days...
