Fender is OK, and I've done the G8 control arms before, but what else could be damaged here?
Benner
Steering/suspension wise I'd be checking inner and outer tie rods, strut, and possibly swaybar endlink. Also the other lower ball joint (pretty sure it has the dual setup but can't think of the name of the other arm.
cstmg8
Yeah, there are two lca's. I'll be buying the kit with all four from pace performance. These made it a whopping 40,000 miles. Good reason to throw the Brembo's on at the same time.
Benner
Got to thinking. Also check the spindle itself when you get everything apart to make sure it didn't get tweaked

aussiek2000
There is a specialy policy on G8's for control arms. just came out a couple weeks ago. But I have to ask, how much noise did it make before the happened?

Check the wheel speed sensor cable as well

But I have to ask, how much noise did it make before the happened? Special policy? Not nearly as much noise as I've had in the past (3rd set). Started clunking on the way to work, separated on the way back.

Can probably get a free tow out of the deal
Crossle
These things had all sorts of issues with ball joints in the warranty period.
Geeto67
Holy crap, didn't realize control arms were such an issue on the G8s. Do the Camaro and CTSV that use the same platform have the same issue? is there a permanent fix? or is it more of a replace defective part with more defective part kind of deal? They supposedly "updated" them a while back, but you know how that goes.

STEVE-O
and no parts on any other car have ever broken? You don't get it hugh, things break but when your car has a known issue and the "update" part destroys itself I would be looking at different cars to purchase as well.. cstmg8
Special bulletin applies. Free replacement, and reimbursement of past repair (not holding my breath on that part). Doesn't cover a tow though.
