It's a Miata with a retractable targa roof.

I hate the flying buttress, recessed back window look on sports cars (love it on muscle cars tho). In an already cramped space why turn extra interior storage space into useless outside space. It needs a fastback style rear window.

that being said it's pretty good looking. not sure why they couldn't just make a fixed hardtop to compliment their roadster, but eh...z4 and SLK have a retractable hard top and they are gunning for people who cross shop those cars to move upscale in the market.

Looks like the targa top will take up the same space as a the soft top when down. It's not like Mazda to spend money on tooling etc. to make major changes. Everything for the targa top would have to fit into the per-existing soft top format with only very minor changes.

With it being retractable it also follows the last gen's PHRT that had a lot of fans.

Also, I think they could've saved the weight making in manual but I think you are correct in Mazda wanting to move towards the upscale with it being motorized.

I really like the look of these, I just wish they made more power

This made me wonder how much power it did make, and I have to tell you, I straight LOL'd when I looked it up. 155 hp? For ~$30k? I don't care if it is faster than a Ferrari Enzo on the track, those optics are fucking comical. At least get it to 200 man, Jesus.
