Whoops....I know the GT350's had some close calls on photo, don't know if they had any wrecks but its not surprising on this track.

Video gone, here is a good link with video still.

Two things:

1). I don't hear a supercharger but definitely a V8 (relieved as I read about a twin turbo V6)

2). How in the world did he wreck where he did? Was it a brake bias issue or something?

I'd think 3700lbs is more realistic...

If it's a bare bones model Z28 I'd say closer to 3,500 with the new ATS based chassis.

Are reinforced chassis why cars weigh so much anymore?

It has more to do with a mass produced car that they want maximum profits from. They could make it out of lighter materials but it's not cost effective. Also, a lot of federal safety requirements force things to be on the cars that weren't in the past (seat belts, air bags, ABS, ESC, TPMS, safety glass, crumple zones, side impact beams, roof crush standard, etc etc and next required on all cars by 2018...back-up camera's), and it all adds up in the weight department.

Very cool -

"Sources" are indicating the Z/28 is naturally aspirated but no one knows what motor. It might be an updated LS7 or maybe even a new motor all together.

Still don't know what motor is in it but cool to read and hear it is a big displacement, high revving, naturally aspirated V8. Most are saying it is a 7 liter version of the LT1 with 550-560 HP.
