Sparky
I'm looking to build some industrial looking shelving units and want to use metal for the supports. I found them at Lowes but there were something like $15 a piece for the shortest they had. There has to be a cheaper place to buy. I need pieces that are about 1"-2" wide, 1/4" thick, and different lengths ranging from 3' to 8'.

I have heard horror stories from a couple people that have worked there about how safe the place is.
wheezy
I work at a steel place in Marengo. If you let me know exactly what you need I can get a price. There is a nice laser cutter if you want more than just a rectangle.

10phone2
Columbus Pipe & Equipment Co. was a great buy last fab project I had but it's been about 5 years not sure if anything's changed. That is the best bet price wise and still is to this day. If you need something specialty cut, tinman at his work place is great.
