Where to buy steel locally

I'm looking to build some industrial looking shelving units and want to use metal for the supports. I found them at Lowes but there were something like $15 a piece for the shortest they had. There has to be a cheaper place to buy.

I need pieces that are about 1"-2" wide, 1/4" thick, and different lengths ranging from 3' to 8'.

Columbus Pipe & Equipment Co. was a great buy last fab project I had but it's been about 5 years not sure if anything's changed.

That is the best bet price wise and still is to this day. If you need something specialty cut, tinman at his work place is great.

Went there to apply for a job like 12yrs ago. Walked in and walked right back out. That place scared me. Lulz.

I would love a thread just sharing that story since I've passed by there a million times.
