As a car guy and father, ive been very interested in "fanboy"-style exotic car vids, as well as these children videos my son would watch all day if I let him. http://kotaku.com/on-youtube-millions-watch-shows-for-children-made-enti-1788282618 While my personal opinion is both categories of video genres are tits-on-a-bull worthless, I understand the premise of eyeballs for ads and Amazon-links so an individual can make money...but it's tough to gauge how much people make off of these videos... Tried to Monetize my account but almost everything was Copyrighted, so no monies. Pretty sure you have to get 10+ Million views to make anything worthwhile. ShowHBK Posted October 27, 2016 Report Share Posted October 27, 2016 In all honesty, many Youtubers don't make much money off their videos... or at least as much as you might think. Subscribers, comments, and views are a huge factor in if you make any money at all. You have to enable whats called "YouTube Ad Sense" on your account which puts the advertisements at the beginning of their videos. The numbers are rough and I have little to go off, but the last official report I saw was that ~100,000 views nets you $500. Another option is adding "Affiliate" links in your videos to products or services. If people buy that product or service then you net a percentage of that profit. Donations or flat fees are also given to a lot of people if they use a product in their videos or maybe wear a certain shirt. This is also known as a sponsorship. The final way I know of is to join a network on youtube or broadcasting company to pay for and sponsor your videos. One of the largest groups on Youtube is known as the "Polaris" group which is primarily made up of gamers such as PewDiePie who grosses 12 million a year playing games, screaming like a little girl, and occasionally crossdressing in Harlem Shake videos. In the end... Making lots of money of Youtube is next to impossible anymore unless you are an old man with a Hydraulic Press who crushes things. My daughter watches people opening up "blind bags", which are like baseball cards in that they are a foil pack you cannot see through...she cannot get enough toy-opening vids. Show pretty much broke down the whole deal on a high level. The channel thing is a scam IMO and Google takes most of your ad money. We talked about working with certain racing channels to funnel content but haven't worked on that plan yet. I know with our reach that we could make people money... We see so many interesting cars come by each week with equally interesting people and their stories. I have always wanted to conduct similar interviews that Clay used to do with people from time to time, but this time do things a little different. Interview the owner with decent quality audio/microphone and then ask them to drive their car over to the side lot about 50 feet away to film some "Car Porn" shots, maybe do some driving along side of them in the parking lot while filming, and top it off with some sexy drone footage. All the while in the background you can hear the audio with the occasional shot back to Clay and the Owner. My only moral problem with this would be to monetize or to not monetize this content. On one hand, I feel like we could do something different and new while at the same time tell people's stories. On the other hand, I never want to make CC&C a profit type thing... Not that I think the idea will make crazy money... The other side of that coin that intrigues me is how much money they must make off it. If that $ per view math adds up, they have roughly 78 million views at the moment. Probably also why each individual had their own spinoff channel ect.. Coupled with all the free shit people send and the swag they sell, I am pretty sure they just make a living off it. Heck, I've put a couple videos out from C&C on my channel and got big hits. I also learned a lot from doing it. With our push for video content I'm guessing I'll be doing it more next year for work. As far as the moral problem it's only "profit" if you put it in your pocket. If you use the money to do other things for the event and reinvest in the event then moral crisis averted. I used to do this with the NYCvinmoto group motorcycle shows I used to put on and we used to use the money to have people come in and give out swag, hire entertainers, or have raffles. As long as it directly benefits the group as a whole then it's no problem. Not that there is anything wrong with making money off the event through your youtube channel or via other social media promotion. Would be a great opportunity for clay and the columbus car scene.
