smokin5s
My wife has been having neck and head pains for years. visited many pain clinics, had 2 neck surgeries, but nothing is helping. I think it's time for her to find a new neurologist so I'm looking for recommendations from people. Back story, she got in a car accident when she was 16, never been the same since. last MRI showed some arthritis in her neck. We're getting desperate at this point. She's even going to try acupuncture to see if it helps (not my choice but I guess if it helps it's worth a shot)
EssFo
Has she looked into Botox injections? They are using that for head pain more and more.
smokin5s
no, seems kind of silly. How would that help?
kirks5oh
What were her neck surgeries?? Those usually treat the arthritis. Did she have neck fusions? Is she only having neck pain, or does she have numbness radiating down her arm(s)?
kirks5oh
I went to school with Gregg figg. He's a neurologist in Westerville. Super smart guy who is down to earth and normal. He was actually a drummer in a heavy metal band while in med school. He's who I would recommend

She also said she has "electric shock" going between her shoulder blades from her neck and her neck locking. Does your buddy Greg require a referral? EssFo
Botox paralyses the nerves. It's being used in many different migraine cases. The down side is it's not permeant so continued injections would be needed.
smokin5s
I said something to my wife about that and she said she spoke to my Aunt who had it done and it caused her alot of issues so she wants to avoid it
acklac7
A good Neurologist? Do those even exist? Been all over Ohio trying to find one, eventually gave up :dumb:
EssFo
Whatever you do stay away from Dr Schoonover out of the Dayton area. Had a good one at the Cleveland Clinic but he's moved on to a hospital out of state.
