So we've all seen Adams sweet FJ and the off-road fun he's used it for which is admirable. Now as we approach winter his baby needs some love and when I say love I mean it. David's AMG has nothing in terms of paint defects when compared to an FJ that has battled tree roots with it's door and pushed anything that grows out of the way.

The initial goal here was to stay on-budget but also provide great results. Looking at things more closely it really wasn't much in the way of additional work to go from good to great so Adam pulled the trigger and as of this morning I'm off and running.

We've all heard the phrase I'm likely mis-quoting but "aim for perfection and settle for excellence" and that's what the new goal is....perfection but in hopes that at the worse case, excellence is what is produced.

I think we're on target Adam! The color is an outstanding tri-color black metallic. Although it would barely show through if at all prior to the cleanup.

Work is underway but here are few sneak peak cell shots.

Passenger Door....but the whole damn truck looks like this

Now the Metallic Paint Explodes when hit with light

More updates coming and perhaps a few videos too.

Lookin amazing! Going to fall in love with it all over again after 5.5 years.

It looks brand new. Certainly not 9 years old. Those battle scars we talked about....sorry, but they are all gone. None left. None of your FJ buddies will believe you've been off road with this one :p

Hopefully I'll get some decent pics Sunday. Going to be cloudy and cold but hopefully not raining. Until then, here are a couple from the garage as she's sleeping for the night.

She is looking sharp:

The Eggshell White roof is single stage paint. Now it's few shades lighter :pThe roof rack marks are gone now too.

Front fender and all panels are 300% clearer and defect free.

Adding a few more pics from today as Adam came to pick her up. Together we did the tail gate as I wasn't comfortable removing his spare tire given it has a special LED light and wiring installed there. Took us about 20 minutes to pull it all off, polish and then reinstall everything.

Holy shit......

Bring me that G8 and we'll get that baby looking like it's a 2016 too ;)

It's better than it looks in the pics! Great gift for its 100K birthday here in about 20 more miles. Thanks again Tim.

Anytime. Thanks for trusting in my work. The only downside to all this detailing is I"m digging the cars and now I've got both an AMG Bug and now off to talk the wife into an FJ to replace the family hauler :p

Definitely going to make this happen, just need to finish up a few things on the car first. It's been tough to do working 6 10's every week!
