and my latest post on this forum before i started the memory lane pictures, lol.  as of 4/28/14

I apologize that all the pics are missing but I switched FB pages a while ago (accidentally deleted mine and had to start over) so all the links for the pics have changed.  sometime ill get them fixed.  With over 22,000 views on this page I really need to get all the pics back up!  I have actually had people call the bike shop i work at (in my signature) and ask me about the bike!  Its awesome!

here are the latest updates.  We bought a house a few years back and I spent some time insulating the garage and building my bike bench.  I finally got it all done and spent some time on the bike.  I got the motor all cleaned up and put in the bike!  lovin the all black look.  Looks more like a newer ZX10 compared to an 89.  Ill be working on it now that its assembly time!  lol.

bought a table jack to work on the motor and clean it up.  This is the new garage before insulation.

insulated garage and bike bench built.  Motor is all clean and ready to go in!  Only took me and my gf to get the motor in.  I actually took the bike off the bench and put the motor on the table jack.  I then put the bike on my pit bull rear stand the front I put on my car jack with a 4x6 under the wheel.  I lifted the front of the bike and used the car jack and table jack to get the motor into place!  Was actually pretty damn easy and didn't scratch a thing!!

5/6/14 Update

Spent the past weekend and this evening cleaning and straightening THOUSANDS, literally, of radiator and oil cooler fins.  I gotta say, the radiator looks awesome all cleaned, painted and assembled with a Muzzy 6 fin fan blade instead of the 4 fin plastic OEM one.

I also blasted and painted the radiator guard.

Thanks guys...

I completely forgot to get the exhaust mount brackets (8 of them that hold the exhaust at the cylinder head) ceramic coated along with the bracket that holds the exhaust together under the center of the bike so i dropped those off at the powdercoaters over the weekend.  So pissed i forgot those b/c thats all i need to put the exhaust, radiator, oil cooler, radiator/oil cooler grill, and a few other things on.  Then i can get some oil in this beast.  Hasnt had oil in in it for a while.

Thanks a lot!  Its been a loooooong ride!  lol.  So many projects that kept me away from it but buying the house, insulating the garage, and building the bike bench were what i needed to get her goin again!!

here are the mounts and brackets mentioned above.  This should be the last set of things to be coated on this bike.  I should have more pics coming soon of some good progress since i got these done.  I can now put on the exhaust, oil cooler and lines, and the radiator and cooling system parts and get the engine filled with fluids!!

finally got ahold of someone at a dealer that had a discontinued part that i really needed, in stock. They shipped it and i should have it this week. Then i can get a fair amount done. Then i gotta finish cleaning the wiring harness and i can that put on along with the carbs. Getting pretty pumped.

Did the bike run before teardown? Been a while since I've visited this thread and didn't reread the first few pages, but I'd advise a continuity test on the harness leads before install just in case there are any broken circuits. Maybe I'm just being anal :dunno: but hate to hear you got it all routed and secured to find an electrical issue later that would need tracked down. Lookin good so far though

Yes i did hear it run.  I just didnt shift thru any gears.  It had a dead battery (sat for a while) but he was able to jump it off his truck and everything was good.  Had a slight tick but i got the valves shimmed (15 out of 16 needed it) so that should solve that.  I just hope it doesnt have any tranny issues.

well i ran into a few issues in the past month that took some time but i finally got around to doing something this weekend.  Unfortunately right when i started getting some things done, i got pulled off for other things and drinking.  Putting the OEM exhaust on the bike is by far a 2 man job but its on!  Im wathcing for dual OEM busa mufflers to go on sale online b/c i hate these small/round mufflers.  I dont want aftermarket b/c i want it quiet.  Im not going for power.

Exhaust finished up, radiator, thermostat housing, coolant piping, and oil cooler mounted along with the radiator and oil cooler guard.  Im hoping to get someting cool designed as a custom radiator grille that i will have laser cut and powdercoated.

finally got some oil in the bike!  got the holes drilled and tapped for the spool/sliders.  the sliders wont work as the mufflers are the sliders, lol.  but i got them for next to nothing, like 5 bucks, and they are brand new 8mm SME that we had leftover at the shop.  Im working on cleaning the clutch reservoir and slave cylinder and getting that installed and bled
