ICEMAN
Got a lot done today. Spent 3 hours cleaning the wiring harness and all the connections. Got the dash connections and ignition connections all done. The tail section requires the rear fender to be installed and I'm waiting on some bolts I ordered Saturday to come in.https://fbcdn-photos-c-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xfa1/v/t1.0-0/10177392_10152702823193360_453403795469313853_n.jpg?oh=a70734c9c669cf535cee5abf230e7cfd&oe=54C7A835&__gda__=1422001854_e84128091e1fd8f68239c28d07903aad[/img

gsxkat1100
I just ordered $100 worth of bolts and other things this weekend. I will keep this in mind. It's what I'm looking for. Thx for the pic.I also have the header pipe with both cats if you want that. If you don't want it, I'm might cut it up and modify for a different bike. ICEMAN
I love the progress I am making on this bike. I got a lot done this weekend. got the throttle cables and the choke cable greased and hooked up. Wiring harness is almost done. Grips are on. Dash is on. All wiring connections have been greased. Rear fender is on, this is big bc it has a lot to do with getting the wiring harness complete. Should have it ready to fire up for the first time here in the next few months!!!!
ICEMAN
Got a lot more done tonight. Wire harness is complete. That's the biggest part! Test fitted some plastic to make sure things fit correctly and something wasn't wrong.
ICEMAN
This is what it took to get the air box on. Craziness...Finally got it!!Rear fender and tool kit box cleaned and mounted.Speed cable and clutch cable mounted.
redkow97
What was fighting you with the air box?
ICEMAN
Getting the rubber from the air.box over the carbs. If there was only 2 of them I could've got them without the ratchet strap. I had the ratchet strap attached to some tarp straps so I couldn't tighten it down too much and break something. I had some silicon lube on the air box rubber to help it on too. I would tighten the strap a few clicks and wiggle the box to help everything slide on. I was also using a scribe with a 90 degree end on it to help the rubber get started onto the carbs. Gixxus Christ!
Boil those boots next time, softens up the rubber and they slip right on.
ICEMAN
i did heat them up. lol. these weer the hardest thing ive ever had to put on a motorcycle. Took like 3 hours and more patience than ive ever had not to grenade the whole bike, LOL.
Gixxus Christ!
Damn. I know boiling them in water with wintergreen oil added will replace a lot of the VOC's and make the rubber more pliable. Only bike I've had to use a ratchet strap on was an old vf750 interceptor...v4 is a huge pain in the dick.
ICEMAN
well im glad to hear someone has had the same experience!
NDspd
Takes me usually an hour to get those seals from my Triumph Airbox to fit on. Bike is coming along great man, can't wait to see it in person!
ICEMAN
thanks! I hate rubber boots on bikes. The boots from the carb to cylinder were so easy to slip the carbs onto. I cant wait to see it all done in person too!! HAHAHA Edited October 6, 2014 by ICEMAN
ICEMAN
it will be running this fall. i want to get it running and the carbs sync'd while it still a little warmer out. It had a K&N drop in when i bought it but im not sure if the kid who put it in knew you had to re jet it if you wanted it to run right so im not sure if the original jets are in it. i put an OEM filter in it since it has OEM exhaust. Gixxus Christ!
Probably best you did that. You can find out the jetting easily tho, just pop out a main jet and look up the stock main jet size. It will be engraved on the jet. If it's higher than stock, someone has done a rejet....so pull them carbs back off and have a look-see!
ICEMAN
Not with that damn air box on. Haha. I'll wait and see.

ICEMAN
Fuck that. With how long it took to do it. I'm not wasting another few hours on something that has a higher chance of not needing changed. Lol
ICEMAN
well... i hooked up the fuel line and it is coming ou the carbs so i need to look into that a lil deeper and see if its just a stuck float. It was late and i was ready for bed and i reaked of fuel so i called it quits. The other day i got the fuel sending unit out and the petcock off and all cleaned. Here is the tank in its current state...
ICEMAN
but it was good to see some life out of her and hear the horn after 7 years. LOL.
Gixxus Christ!
Evan o rust for the tank. New float needles and seats for the carbs.
ICEMAN
Kreem'n the tank. Carbs might only need a good tap to knock the float loose. We'll see.
