Truck recommendations

The ridgeline is a toy..good for hauling people and some mulch but not for moving anything real.

I bought a new 2012 and bought a vtx in feburary. I got a uhaul mc trailer so it had about 900-1000 lbs behind it. That POS struggled, you could tell it really didn't like it

Looking into getting a truck for work and trying to figure out where and what to start test driving first. I have always been in work vans so wanted to see what others might recommend or not recommend. I work in the construction industry so it will mostly be used for hauling tools, materials and driving from job to job. Needs to be reliable as it will see a good amount of miles. Price point somewhere in the $20-30K range.

Also Looking for dry, secure bed storage opinions like a tonneau cover and maybe some sort of pack rat system. What have you had and like or not liked.

Some on top of the list at first glance include

-Toyota tundra

-Honda Ridgeline

-F150

Just curious why you're not considering the new van options? Dodge Ram Van, Ford transit vans, I think Chevy has come out with new work vans, even Mercedes Benz is trying to get into the market with work vans. I use them at my second job occasionally and it's like night and day compared to the old chevy/GMC 2500 vans. Literally redesigned from the ground up and they're so much more comfortable.

Then again, if you'd rather have a truck just because... its a truck and not a van. Totally understandable.

My dad just got a 17 ram 1500 hemi 4wd crew cab short bed, towing package, underbody skid plates, bed liner, back up camera. Took some haggling and abuse but we got it down to 30,640 from like 44,5xx at performance Chrysler in delaware. Go drive a hemi with an 8 spd. It's fun.

They are in my list to check out. Seem to have a big inventory and good deals listed online. I did drive a 2016 hemi with the 8speed. For a truck I was impressed. However I did drive the f150 ecoboost and felt the same.

Did you buy anything?

Not yet, between it being for work and personally got a little busy I haven't had too much time. I would expect somewhere after thanksgiving and the middle of December to try and get something.

My role of day to day working in the field is changing so to be in a van full time Isn't needed. I will still have full access to the van for days/ weeks that I need it too.

Do you have any requirements or features you love? Nav, leather, heated seats, rear camera, v8, v6, diesel, color, year, miles, 4x4, crew cab, reg cab, new/used, bed size?

4 door, 4X4, V8, back up camera make the top of the list. Also would consider the ecoboost f150s. From there I'm Open. Would give up some features to get lower/ no miles, newer and more warranty.
