I use to work for AT&T and my best suggestion for you is to buy a pre paid phone at best buy or target, put your sim card in it and it will work with your number. U can usually get some cheapo phone for like 20 bucks. Problem solved! I know AT&T just loves the ol' pre paid fraud, so your best to buy a pre paid phone from a national retailer instead of a corporate store.
