Wind, water and the sun act as a key source of clean renewable energy. Renewable energy can be used again and again, without the fear of it getting exhausted. Moreover, unlike fossil fuels, its usage does not emit harmful gases and contribute to greenhouse effect. Wind is a major source of renewable energy. But only 1% of its potential is currently being used by the world. However, in recent times, its usage has seen a steep rise. The wind energy industry has been growing at the rate of 28% a year for the past five years, and if growth trends continue at this pace as is expected, wind capacity will double about every three or four years. All this indicate a high potential for wind energy investments. Wind energy is tapped through wind mills or wind turbines. When the sun heats up the air above the land, it expands and rises, giving its place to the cooler and heavier air above. This makes the wind to blow and over the airfoil shaped blades of the turbine causing them to turn. This leads to the generation of the electric power.
