Too big for CC, very accurate, well built & fun to shoot.Smith & Wesson 22a is a cheap good .22 plinking gun. Ault
I've been putting about 100 to 150 rounds a week thru mine. I load my own so I load a lighter target load, use a 15# recoil spring instead of the factory 16# and a shock buff. Its smooth as butter and deadly accurate. The crisp 3 and 1/2 lb trigger is so sweet compared to the long pull of a double action..... A Kimber custom II is a great deal for the money, just toss on some adjustable sights and you're good to go..........I had a custom crimson carry II and loved it but needed a more concealable unit....so i sold it to carry a glock 23 then sold that to carry my current s&w 637 snub (which i love)....but tax time is here and i got my eye on a colt xse blued! ftw Edited January 19, 2010 by Ault
smashweights
just got back from VRA, sorry i didnt let you all know, i definitely would like to go shooting with you sometime, but i went with my girlfriend's brother and we were on a slight time crunch. Shot the FNP-9, XD9, and Five-seveN before we ran out of time and $, lol. XD9 was really nice, seemed to be pretty accurate, better than the FNP-9, which i was kinda disappointed in as i really liked the size and feel of the FNP. The Five-seveN was awesome though. Very little recoil or muzzle flip, more accurate (in his and my hands anyway) than the XD, significantly easier to load than the 9mm mags, interestingly much bigger flash and sound than the 9mm. Just too damn expensive at $1000+. Havent made any decisions yet though. One gun that caught my eye there was the Walther PK380. It was inexpensive at like $360, small enough if i ever wanted to CCW, and the ammo was only about $2 more than the 9mm remanufactured stuff at VRA.Definitely a fun experience, though I had to slow myself down a few times cause i have a tendency to burn through ammo quickly. speedytriple
AHH... Vances has the xd 9 or 40 in subcompact for $419, and the same price on the 4 inch. So if I could save almost $80 I might drive to cbus. As for the ruger wheel gun Have no clue to wheel guns? I like the airweights though only wheel gun I looked at. Hoblick
Glockpick a model and try i carry a 27 aand love the thing, accurate as hell, fun to shoot at the range, small enough to carry, not as much muzzle flip as you would expect from a sub compact.if your worried about getting your pinky on the grip, do what i did and get a pearce grip extensionbut the New Gen 4 Glocks are out, so you might want to check those bad boys out as well. speedytriple
G-locks are fine weapons. I dont like the feel of them. Never said they are bad guns. If a 27 fits your hand all 4 fingers with a grip extension you must have porn hands?!!! I just got a new gun mag that had a article about the new glock 22 looks nice. BUT NOT AS GOOD AS THE XD BWAHAHA!
CoolWhip
Hoblick. This place is full of glock haters. They would rather get the Glock clone er... I mean XD.Little known fact, did you all know that the same guy who did the initial designs for the Glocks also created the xd? I have a Glock 21 as well as various other handguns and I cannot tell you how much I love my Glock. It is so easy to field strip, it needs no upkeep, they are durable as all get out, and they are extremely accurate. If you are planning on just shooting it at a range and aren't looking for a ccw weapon I would definitely go for a full size gun instead of a sub-compact because the larger guns are more comfortable to shoot for long periods of time. As for caliber, just pick something that you will enjoy and get good with. I personally have multiple .22's but would never suggest one for self defense. I know a guy whose house was broken into and he was shot three times in the chest with a .22 and he chased down the attacker and sat on him til the cops came lol .22 doesn't have any knockdown power. I personally have a .357 mag, .38 special, .380 auto, 9mm, and a .45. I personally like my .45 best although the .357 mag is wonderful and it can shoot the cheaper .38 special ammo for practice. My friend is an avid 9mm guy and when he finally shot my .45 he emptied the mag, handed it back to me and said "Your gun definitely has a bigger p e nis than mine." I lol'd
Ocelotsix
What is your experience with firearms? Do you own any? If not, I would get out there and shoot some. Everyone can recommend their favorites, but that doesn't mean that gun will fit you. Some guns, such as Glock, are very user friendly for beginners. Shoot what is comfortable for you both price wise and shooting wise, and have fun shooting whatever you buy.
Gump
:popcorn:on & onYou should pose the question. Which gun is not reliable or accurate.Everything else is an opinion or a feature. These gun recommendation threads go on forever.
jagr
Price and preferance are usually the deciding factor. I'm sure the XD is a fine choice. If I was a little wealthier or a lil more irresponsible I prolly wouldve went with a FN or a H&K.
speedytriple
^^^ agree get what ever fits your hand and feels right. Thats what I did, handled dozens of guns before I picked the ones I have had. I have gone thru a few to settle on what I like and fits my hand best. If it is not in your price range rent it see if you realy like it if you do save up for it then. Dont buy a 300 dollar gun now cause it had to be now. save if you want a pricey gun that you like(been there) It is easier to save for what you want then to sell a gun you settled on.
