Curling Explained (Thank God)

fyi, and kind of cool. The olympics don't use a hog ump because they have "eye of the hog" installed in all the stones.

The handles are metallic and if there's anything touching them as they cross the hog line little red lights turn on indicating a hogged stone.

Pretty neat if you ask me :)

Alright so what I want to know is why the hogger, for lack of a better term, need a broom? Are they just using it for stability?

I missed the curling this year. :(

The thrower you mean? They use a broom for stability, although they sometimes use a stability stick instead.

It's good that you can win an olympic medal in a sport that requires no athletic ability whatsoever.

Like Women's Hockey?

Watching the Canada ("the best team") /Finland match last night, they may have 'athletic ability' but it sure isn't in hockey.

Watching womens hockey is like watching you're nephews third grade boys team, it's really cute in all but 30 minutes of it is about all you can take, please don't give me 3 15 minute periods...
