Car Audio--Subwoofer Enclosure I've built...

So Just thought i'd share some pics of my hobby and what i do for a side job. First off i competed in dB Drag racing and MECA competitions in the past and will be making a return with a huge system for the 2010 season. But here are some smaller builds I have done in the past.

Here's the latest box i'm working on. Its 4 Tang Band Neo 8s, on 600wrms. around 3 cubes with 30square inches of port tuned to 30hz. Its a smaller port than i would use but it should keeps the woofers from over excursion and keep even pressure (being that its a weird designs and would have uneven backpressure)

O and my 1 8 on 100wrms probably plays lower than everyones 10/12spopcorn.gif

i've built hundreds of boxes, i can post more pics if anyone want to see.

Home audio/car audio. If anyone is impressed by a prefab box you wouldnt believe what subs can do if the box is specifically built for the sub

Using dowel rods for cutout placement

Testing sub fit, and starting mud- after 7 layers of glass

as of right now the box is done with mud and is primered. Its getting custom painted and graphics by my bodyshop guy (its his box)

2 infinity 12 in a 6? cuft box. I remeber when building it the subs were going to be way underpowerd to i built a bigger than spec box to optimize power/sound levels

Got extremely low and loud off 300wrms

misc008.jpg

1 18" Fi BTL. (bad mofo) magnet is 11.25 inches in diameter. Rms is 2000, with many people putting 3-4kwatts on em

this setup was off a 2200wrms amp. 2 sealed group d batteries. box was around 5.8 cubic feet net with around 70 square inches of port area. tuned to 35 hertz

This box design set a record in a texas comp Usaci organization

SB3---he was 9dB louder against his competitor...that is huge difference 3dB sounds like "double"

had min. space to work with so it was only 3/4 inches thick, but had ALOT of bracing. (baffle was 1.5 inches thick)

btl.jpg

btl2.jpg

entire box was resin'd to help make the mdf more dense and smooth air flow. also on the outside to protect and help the line-x stick

btl4.jpg

btl5.jpg

this is 3/4" allthread very strong

btl6.jpg

baffle is on

the guy i built it for desided to paint flames on it...wtf?

This car metered 144.4 hz dB Drag racing "Legal" with the lower tuned port attached.

I would guess it woulod be 146 or so using just the 35hz port

dB Drag and Meca meter two different ways

Legal and Outlaw

Toss up between two right now. The blazer got sold

96 ram1500

95 s10

The s10 is the better truck but idk if i can fit my 4 18s in it. Might have to do 2.

The ram has a normal dodge front end and shitty brakes but i can fit my 18s no problem.

Cool stuff man. I'm currently running 1 Kicker L7 15 in a (just under) 4 cubic foot box tuned at 30hz, which is being pushed by a Kicker ZX750.1 in my Cherokee.

My SPL meter only goes up to 130db and I hit that at less than 3/4 volume. :)

S10 - Time to use some of bed for airspace.

150+ on music on the new termlab. 150 on tones will be too easy

Either on is getting hacked up with a blow through. From the bed to the top of the cap is only like 33 inches so i cant stack the 18s tall. And its only 50" wide so there will be no room for a port. I might have to do a sixth order. From what i can tell so far I can do 2 or 3 without doing a 6th order. I know i can still hit 150 with 2 but I want it to be devastating like 4.
