Radio Flyer
My rear brake spring doesn't seem to be releasing all the way when I push down on my rear brake pedal. The peg jiggles around a little bit, would tightening that up possibly give it the fix it needs or do I maybe need a new spring?

ReconRat
There are two springs. One in the switch to get it to retract and shut off the light, and one between the brake pedal and the switch to keep from pulling it too far and breaking it. Mine has a third spring between the lever and the frame stuff, that helps bring the brake lever back all the way up. If it's not doing that, the brake light might stay on. Inspect the rear brake lever and return spring, clean the switch if it doesn't retract all the way, check the springs connecting the two, and adjust or replace the switch as necessary. It's not unusual to eventually need to adjust a rear brake switch to get it to shut off. Wear on the rear brakes shoes will change the position of the rear brake lever and change the way the rear brake light switch works a little bit. Even more so with putting new brake shoes on the rear, it might not come on.Since you say the brake lever jiggles, I'd go looking for that spring that lifts it back up. The one between the lever and the rearset or frame part. It might be missing or not connected right. Make sure it's the right one, on some bikes it's easy to get the two springs mixed up.
