Got a 2002 blaster recently and only received a bill of sale with it. Had the DMV run the vin # an they said it didn't bring anything up on the computer. She told me the blaster had to of been titled at some point before, and asked was it from out of state or not. Told me unless I can track down the original owner, I am screwed as far as getting a title and an APV sticker.

Now, if it were once titled shouldn't it have brought something up on the computer? Also, seeing as it didn't show anything, can I go ahead put my mind at ease in terms of it being stolen or not. Never thought about it until I got home with it.

Well since you're in Ohio, I already assumed you bought it in Ohio. But since you traded a laptop for it, you obviously didn't get it from a dealership.

If it were me, I'd verify the vin# on the frame with the motor.

Check and make sure that quad came with a title in that year. Some you have to take bill of sales to the court house and have a title made. I have had to do it with several Honda quads over the years. Given they were all late 80s-late 90s models, and were all checked to make sure they weren't stolen, and weren't any leans against them.

As long as everything checks out, and nothing shows up, they should have no reason not to make a title for you.

why do you want a title for a quad? you ride them off road there's no real need for one.

keep your bill of sale. that's your reciept. the police can't do shit to you.

You have to have a title to get it registered and to get your state sticker. Without this, you can't ride in any parks (Wayne, Perry, etc). Hell, the lady at the BMV told me the other day they're requiring license plates on quads and dirtbikes now.

That's true- You need a APV Plate and sticker. They last for 3 years and are around 35 bucks.

Casper is exactly right. I live 2 minutes from Perry and won't be able to ride there if I can't get a title.

Asked the guy I got it off of to try to trace it back for me. He got it from his friend who says he doesn't remember who he got it from. How can you not remember? It's only a 2002 lol. shouldn't be hard to trace it but I think I'm stuck already.

Thinking about asking my bank(PNC) to do a lein search on it.

All ATV's require titles if built after 1985(Pretty sure that was the year but I may be off a year or two)
