They try to keep soldier's from being there for more than 365 days because the first day of every month after 12 is an extra $1,000 in the soldier's pocket. I do know some guys that have had 18 month tours over there though. He was a ranger so I can only speculate it is the same time frame for them also. alab32 Posted October 8, 2010 Report Share Posted October 8, 2010 Well, I would say a couple of those tours were not a full year since your basic Ranger has not been in either country for 12 years so... Also, one tour he went home early for a wound he received. And by NO means am I taking anything away from this man. He is a true American hero and will be missed. Amazing!
