Just ordered MD80

I'm sure some of you have heard of it. It's a small video camera that is frequently used for r/c airplanes or diy helmet cams. I intend to do the latter, something like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HxZsckWZOAQ&feature=fvsr.

I'll let yall know how it goes when I get it. Anybody have one, willing to offer some advice? I'm as smart as a box of rocks when it comes to video cameras .

Well, I know tha 30 fps is crappy, and the resolution is small, but waddaya expect for something that tiny.

30fps is not crappy - it's full motion video and you can't getany higher framerate than that unless you go for a hi-speed camera (the type they film bullets with)

The battery lasts about an hour. It won't delete the exsting video, so if you want to use it for regular commuting then you have to plug it into you computer and delete the existing video each time. It charges from the computer.

If it runs out of space on the SD card or runs out of battery, it will save the current video. If you press stop, it will save the current video. **If youpower it off while recording, it will lose the current video***

I don't like the placement of the camera in the pic in the OP. I'd haate to have that thing smashed into my nose. Look at the thick chunk of foam next to your temple - a strip of velcro will hold it perfectly there.

I quit using mine for commuting because it was a pain to keep clearing the video. I use it for specific recording needs. The video on my bike is filmed using a permanently-installed MDVR14 that has auto-on, auto-off and auto-overwrite of old video. 100% automated and hands-off.

If it would auto-overwite, then it'd be perfect.

well, i did say that i know jack squat... it seems good from your videos. i saw one guy's video that was rather crappy. btw, love the sigh after you direct traffic.

Hm, thats weird. I own one, but some of the things scruit said arent the same for me. When the space on my sd card is full, or if it turns off for whatever reason before i stop recording, it doesnt save the video. Its pretty good quality I think. My problem was trying to find where to put it.

Also, I put mine where scruit did, on that pad on the side. Works pretty good, I had problems with it pointing down due to how the helmet sits/how my pad is.

where'd you get that lil camera? I would be interested in one of those.

There was a tread a few months back about this camera. I was going to order one, and found them all over ebay. One guy was from over around Lima and I was wanting to stop and pick it up, instead of him shipping it. Never heard back from him, after several attempts.

If I remember correctly, in that thread, some of the guys that ordered them, ended up with ones that didn't work.
