idodishez
http://www.escortradar.com/iq/Anyone have one? Like it? Hate it? Thoughts? I want one bad. Could buy an older dirt bike for that much money though.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
alienpi
That'd be great for those states that don't like radar detectors. Could use the, it's my gps excuse.

idodishez
Ok. Cincinnati Microwave iqHappy? At least it got the thread read:). What would be super cool is if the radar warnings would transmit via Bluetooth (like gps directions) to a BT set like the Scala Rider G4. Might save me from those 97mph tickets:)Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

John
That'd be great for those states that don't like radar detectors. Could use the, it's my gps excuse.a thought ive had:would it be possible to disassemble a regular radar detector, and basically lengthen the wires so that you could place the detection unit somewhere in the front of your vehicle, like up in the grill somewhere, put the lights near your gauge cluster, and put the rest of it into an enclosure and hide that somewhere else in the car? They also sell hardwired units specifically designed to be permanently installed. Doesnt combat "radar detector detectors" that's cops can use though in states where they are illegal. (can't remember what they're called)Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

idodishez
So my GPS quit. Time to get a new one. Trying to decide if this is a good investment. GPS units seem to last a few years for me before quitting. If that's the same w this unit it's not worth the $. Anyone know any more about this unit than 2 years ago? Gixxus Christ!
Was hoping this was about stupid whores. Bummer.Do close to the speed limit, pay the ticket or run. By the time radar or laser is detected its usually too late. I speed constantly, almost flagrantly. 60 in a 40, 80-100 on the freeway depending on traffic, if its not safe to haul ass I don't. I also have a slush fund set aside for tickets and the resulting insurance hike. Its not as much as this doo-dad costs.
ReconRat
I have better results using the Waze app on a droid to locate trouble, than I ever was running a detector. But for back roads that are lightly traveled, the detector might still be the best bet. I had a Cincinnati Microwave Escort years ago, before laser detection. It worked very well, but I'm not really sure if I used it enough to make it worth the cost of buying it. In traffic most detectors will get false alerts from other leaky detectors around you in traffic. Quite annoying. Using any sort of detector will teach a person to slow down in general. Might be a lot cheaper just to slow down. edit: I also like a vertical display, I can "see farther down the road". dustinsn3485
I've got a passport and a valentine. Just radar and both work well. I disagree with the statements above that it's too late once the detector sounds. While it's more true with laser, I've never gotten a ticket when I was running radar and it's hit many times on both laser and x/K bands. With laser it seems the cops have to get two hits and by the second hit I'm always slowed down I guess. The x/K bands both detectors seem to usually pick up from at least a mile away. Plenty of time to get slowed down.
Gixxus Christ!
I used to have a radar detector. After detecting every automatic door I passed for a few weeks I chucked it out of the window...annoying as hell.

Invest in a good quality somewhat expensive detector and they don't pick up on as much clutter. The newer technology also has GPS built in and will filter out false signals if it gets a detection in the same spot over and over.
Gixxus Christ!
Eh, I've managed to go very fast everywhere I go this long and have only had 3 speeding tickets in life, ill do without. Most of my driving is work commute, same road every day, i know all the spots the cops hide.

One ticket will cost a few hundred in fines. Add increased premiums, and I'm looking for any escape routes. I used to do triple digits on a regular basis on 2 wheels. Anymore I'm Leary of a ticket/increased premiums. I've "run" a few times, but only when I know there's no chance of plate recognition or them catching me This space intentionally left blank to avoid offending anyone 2012
