Need advice for rust

Hey everyone.... so i have a couple after market chrome pieces on my Aero and all of them are collecting rust. Even the bracker that holds my windshield on is transferring rust onto my front forks!! Got caught in the rain once last year, however it was quite a downpour.

So first order of business soon will be to get these things off the bike ans start working on them. I'm especially concerned with the rust on my forks. so what is the best way to safely get this rust off?? Any way to prevent it in the future?

PM Hoblick and ask him if he has any ideas. He does great detailing, he may know of a good compound to really get them clean and protect for the future.
