If you're running Windows 7, Windows Movie Maker can do a half-decent job for you.

It ain't Adobe Premier, but it's free/included with Windows.

***edit: go to Windows Live Essentials to get Movie Maker, I guess. Not installed on my Win 7 box, but I'm running the Corp/Enterprise edition. Home might have it, but I'm too lazy/disinterested to look it up. :)
