Aimed squarely at the performance street rider, the Alpinestars Tech 1-R jacket is built with many of the same features you’ll find on their top-of-the-line racing suits. This motorcycle jacket is assembled with an abrasion-resistant leather outer shell that averages 1.3mm in thickness. Inside, all the various accouterments necessary for protecting you out on the road are included, like CE-certified armor pads in the elbows, polyurethane external shoulder sliders, foam chest pads (upgradable with this chest pad kit) and a foam back protector (also upgradeable). As modern fast bikes tend to have you leaned forward a bit, the Tech 1-R jacket is cut with a longish arrears to keep the sun off your lower back and the arms are properly articulated so there’s no binding of the leather when you’re at the controls. Several areas of the jacket are perforated via a die-cutting method to deliver cooling air directly to the wearer. Cooling efficiency is further enhanced by a 3D mesh liner that’s fitted throughout the jacket’s interior. This liner also reduces friction against the skin – making the jacket supremely comfortable out on the road.

If you like to do the occasional trackday, or you’re a hardcore scratcher out on the road, a full-circumference zipper is also included at the waist of the jacket to attach a matching pair of Alpinestars riding pants.

Since effective protection is related to proper fit, getting this jacket in the right size is crucial to your safety. To that end, the Tech 1-R jacket is available in fitted sizes so just about every rider out there can ride safe and look good too. You can also choose from four different colors: black, black/white, red with black/white or blue with black/white.

Taking lessons learned from their work with some of the best riders around the world, Alpinestars employs two separate, but integral, accordion stretch panels at the sides of the Tech 1-R jacket. There’s also a stretch panel for each of the elbows. These permit a great range of flexibility from a fitted jacket without sacrificing safety.

Derived directly from their racing experience, these external polyurethane shoulder protectors not only disperse impact energy, but they also enhance ventilation at the same time. Each shoulder protector is backed by energy-absorbing armor on the inside of the leather chassis. Furthermore, they also help reduce the likelihood of tumbling in a sliding-type crash.

Perforations adorn the Tech 1-R jacket in places that are effective for sportbike riders.

The large aerodynamic hump also contributes a high degree of ventilation performance with its perforated upper area. The foam skeleton within is hollowed-out to get air to the back of the rider.

Just like their Tech 1-R suit, the Tech 1-R jacket also includes a provision for attaching an Alpinestars Bionic Race back protector to one of three locations on the upper back. This allows you to go anywhere with full protection buttoned in!
