Cosmetically the unit only sports normal wear and tear which is limited to fine scratches. No gashes, no mild scratches, nor abrasions. Unit is functionally solid as well. I did not receive an outer trim piece when I bought the unit, but it's never been a problem for me personally, I forgot it was never there. You can also order one if you so desire.

nice, features?

Much too many to list. This is a premium sound quality head unit. Internal crossovers for each speaker and 16 band EQ onboard. The most advanced features are it's ability to run 2 or 3 way active (run, control, eq, and manage crossovers for each individual tweeter, mid, sub, etc, while sending the cleanest unprocessed signal directly to each amplifier/speaker. Also does automatic time, alignment, and equalization.

More accurate details below, there's a ton of things in the manual

ahh yes, we cadillac people suffer in this arena...

on one hand, the stock stereo is quite remarkable for a stock stereo.

on the other hand, better is better...

If i'm properly informed, a lot of the electronics involved with operating the car are integrated into the stereo (why cadillac, why?)

I had planned on doing an install on my 2000 STS at one time, but I don't see that happening now.

When I get My XLR, I do intend on putting In an aftermarket stereo, but in tandem with the factory one, It still shouldn't be all that difficult...

I understand your apprehension.

I love everything it offers and the sound is amazing with the Bose system I just wished I had a damn AUX input

The CD player is really picky about CDs as well but damn they sound good, I've found Verbatium works best

YES!

IIRC, there was a shop building custom inputs for cadillacs with factory bose, it connected between the harness and the CD changer, and gave you 3 input options...

my STS has composite inputs in the glove box, but i cant seem to change the source to that, even going into debug mode on the touch screen (poke top left, poke top right, back and forth 10 times)

an aux input that didn't sound like garbage would be great.

sorry for the :hijack:
