abdecal
Does anyone brew their own beer? I was thinking of trying it out, I think it would be pretty fun to experiment with.

abdecal
I will gladly work quality control for you.Haha. I've been doing a lot of research on it and I'm pretty confident once I get this brew kit in I can turn out a pretty good beer. I'm more than willing to send out some samples http://www.midwestsupplies.com/brewing-starter-plus-kit.html
Jst2fst
I've done some small batches but its only been some Apple Beer/cider. I have a batch right now that I just have to filter out this week. You can smell the alcohol in it
abdecal
I live close to Jungle Jim's and they have a lot of good home brewing supplies as well. I wonder what the cost per 12 ounces is.
chrisknight
You can do it! Like my Mom says, "Anything is easy once you know how to do it". Read up on it. here: http://www.howtobrew.com/Everyone thinks they should start out with extract batches and "work their way up to all grain". I think that is good advice for those that just want to make beer. It works. However, I strongly urge everyone wanting to start to jump right into all grain batches if they truly want to make their own beer. It isn't hard and having full control over the entire process from grain to tap is truly rewarding.Start with this 8 part "back yard equipment" tutorial here:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eIGrsGPVA_Y&list=UUkforfGr_EUfBeVUCceGrDg&index=
abdecal
I am definitely wanting to start out doing full grain
jester3681
I have a college buddy that does it. He brews a lot, and tries a lot of different recipes. He also judges home brewed beers at competition. His current batch is resting in Bourbon barrels right now. It's not difficult, from what he says, but you can spend some money doing it. abdecal
I just watched Chris's entire video series on it. A little bit more to it than I thought but doesn't look to tough. Definitely going to give it a try.
Gixxus Christ!
I've been brewing for over ten years. That kit looks nice, definitely has everything you need.Don't waste money on their 'one step, no rinse' sanitizer. They charge like $11/4oz. It's just oxyclean, you can get a 2 pound tub of that shit for $6.99 at the store.
SecondLiar
I used this method for my first and only batch. http://www.homebrewtalk.com/f39/easy-stovetop-all-grain-brewing-pics-90132/I used this kit. I didn't have big enough pots so I split the ingredients in half and made two batches. Turned out great.http://www.thegrape.net/browse.cfm/summer-ale-all-grain/4,12541.html
Mykill
I'll be starting after winter. I need a turkey fryer and warmer weather. My stove sucks.
curby
My neighbor and i brew our own. We've done quite a few batches. Couple lagers, porters and my favorite... Stouts. Haven't made a batch we didn't like yet. Best batch we've done was a Chocolate Oatmeal Stout. 5 gallon batch only lasted a week lolGrape and grainery is the best place to go for kits. Luckily it's only a 20 min drive for me. Home brewing is not cost effective. #1 rule - Sanitation!
