...not to mention shooting your eye out... If you have a milling machine and a jig it's pretty simple. Go slow, take light cuts, and measure often. I like theTactical Machining stuff.

Evidently, this Caponord is worth about what a 15 year old KLR650 is worth. With that in mind, I'm going to keep and ride it. A longer side stand will make it easier to pick up and help with the knee issues and maybe I'll rip off the fairing and lose some of that weight high up.

I agree. They reduced the value of your car and should make you whole. Dealers wouldn't give you the same price as they would for an unrepaired car. I don't want a repaired car unless I get a great deal on it. Fight on.

Buy two of the high-quality lowers you want. Wait for next gun buying panic and sell one for twice the price you paid. Boom, free lower.

These guys are cheaper and have a high-quality product. http://www.tacticalmachining.com/80-products/80-receivers.html You could do it with a drill press and a dremel and a ton of patience, but you really need a milling machine.

2002 Aprilia Caponord - 16xx original miles. Yes, one thousand six hundred. Not sixteen thousand. My son bought it from his neighbor who got it from his buddy at work - the original owner. I bought it to ride (keep up) with my son who went from a KLR650 to a Triumph Tiger. In the meantime I had knee and shoulder surgery is coming and I've decided that this bike is too big and heavy for my bad knee and shoulder. There are a few scuffs on the tank and shrouds. Reportedly, my son's neighbor dropped it at a standstill in his driveway. There are a couple of dime-sized abrasions on some edges of the shrouds that agree with this story. Otherwise the bike looks like it's had about 1600 miles of wear. New oil, filter, battery, plugs, and I had the injectors cleaned this month. Runs good and is smooth and fast. Handles great. Licensed, titled, and insured in my name. Mileage will go up slightly as it get ridden.

If it's fairly new then it may be a "Remlin." A Remlin is a Marlin that is built after Remington bought out Marlin and moved the operations. They are widely regarded to be inferior to the pre-Remington Marlins. However, some are fine and yours may be an excellent, well-built one. Not knocking your rifle, just passing on info.

I"m working on an Aprilia Caponord that has been sitting for a few years. I doesn't want to run on the front cylinder. Spark is fine, so I pulled the fuel injector and it's covered in green varnish. I found a place in CA and FL that cleans/rebuilds injectors, but is there anywhere closer that any of you have experience with? I wonder why the tow truck didn't just drop it off at the recycling yard. It has to cost more to sell it like this than it will be worth.
