Wait! what?

I admit I haven't read the details on the case.

They did find the brother as you say?

No. At one point they said a man in camoflage pants was found in the woods nearby. I don't think he was in anyway related to the shooting

I think the only responsible course of action would be to ban Camoflage "Assault Style Pants"

Not sure about conspiracy theories, but I will say the quality and accuracy of the reporting has been unacceptable :(

If you don't know the facts, let's not report bad information for the sake of filling airtime.

The shooter was Ryan Lanza...wait no it's not.

His mother was found dead at the school...wait no she wasn't.

His mother was a teacher at the school...wait no she wasn't.

Adam Lanza went to that school...wait no he didn't.

There were 2 handguns used in the shooting and an AR15 was locked in the trunk...no the AR15 was the murder weapon...no 4 handguns were used to commit the crimes the AR15 is back in the trunk again...wtf

Nothing more than irresponsible journalists that are more worried about getting in front of a camera that reporting accurate information. Unacceptable.

I see the trun

k was a major factor here. We should ban vehicles that have a capacity to carry weapons. If we didn't have those he wouldn't have been able to get the weapons to the school.

Yup. Exactly. Something fishy going on in Newtown.

Yep. A case of really really poor journalism. It started as two handguns used, an Ar in the trunk. Then became four handguns and an Ar in the truck, to four guns involved, with two handguns and an Ar found in the school, and a shotgun in the trunk. A believeable progression from first reports to real facts, but proper journalism would have waited to confirm what they were reporting. The media doesn't believe in that any more, they just want to be first.

Are we suggesting that the murders were actually carried out by the handguns and that the AR is a "plant" to win support for an AWB?

There would have to be a lot of people complicit in such a scam. Someone would have to plant a hundreds or so 5.56 cartridges that would have to matched against the rifle. Someone would have to hide all the 9mm and 10mm pistol cartridges. Someone would have to lie about the bullets found in the victims or in the walls and say they were 5.56 instead of 10mm.

Interesting theory, but far fetched. Remember they said Lanza's mother was a teacher in the early reporting - I'm not aware of anyone pushing conspiracy theories about that claim now that is has been proven wrong.

I'm not sure anyone is suggesting all of that, but the media is known to latch on to the tidbits that move their agenda while ignoring those that don't.

I normally don't get into these kinds of discussions, but I thought this was a pretty interesting way of responding:

New York (CNN) -- A blogger has posted the home addresses of staffers from a newspaper after the paper published an online, interactive map showing names and addresses of all handgun permit-holders in New York's Westchester and Rockland counties.

Christopher Fountain, who is also a gun owner, spoke to CNN's "Starting Point with Soledad O'Brien" on Thursday to explain his reasoning behind the posting. "I felt they were using this to harass gun owners," Fountain said of the newspaper's staff. "So I harassed them back."

Fountain posted the name, home address and phone numbers of the Journal News' publisher, editor, visual editor and several other staff members. Fountain told CNN's "Early Start" that he was offended by the newspaper's actions and "wondered how they would like it if their addresses were published."

The map published by the Journal News on Saturday allows readers to zoom in on red dots that indicate which residents in the two New York counties are licensed to own pistols or revolvers. It has prompted more than 2,300 comments as of Thursday.

Janet Hasson, president of the Journal News Media Group, defended the decision in a statement on Wednesday.

"One of our roles is to report publicly available information on timely issues, even when unpopular. We knew publication of the database (as well as the accompanying article providing context) would be controversial, but we felt sharing information about gun permits in our area was important in the aftermath of the Newtown (Connecticut) shootings," she said.

Although Fountain's own address was not among those published by the Journal News, he told CNN he believes they were "conflating legal gun owners" with the elementary school shooting in Newtown, Connecticut, that claimed the lives of 20 children and 6 staffers on December 14.

Fountain's blog is called "For What It's Worth," and he currently is a real estate agent in Greenwich, Connecticut. The post, entitled "Sauce for the goose or, home address and phone number of Journal News publisher," had prompted more than 500 comments as of Thursday.

Calls by CNN on Thursday to the Journal News for comment were not immediately returned.

Hows that working out for you? The next county said no. Sheriff says inmates have guards home addresses. Politicians plan new laws against the newspaper. Newspaper hires security force, cause unknown.
