I had a debate with a friend from the UK who argued that all guns should be banned because of the 20 kids killed in Newtown. I pointed out that there are reported to be 2 million defensive uses of firearms every year and how many of those folks would be dead if unarmed. The repsonse? You can't argue with stupid people. If someone genuinely believes that because you own a firearm or support your right to own firearms that means you want children to be violently murdered, then there is no reasoning with them, and you might as well save your breath. But I think any rational person, while taking the human element out of it, realizes that the body count will decrease if teachers were armed.
