Doesn't matter who said it - religious bias is not allowed.

The bias will never end. How do you propose creation is taught? Not teach the big bang theory, life cycle, evolution, reincarnation, etc at all? Will always be biased. The state has NO business educating kids.

Fyi Scruit the question is rhetorical (sp?)

Abolish public schools. Problem solved! Teach your kids yourself or pay for your child's education at a school of your choosing tax payers shouldn't be funding education! Flame on!!!

Excellent Idea

so then our country falls off the intellectual cliff...

Sure, we're down the list on the ratings for industrialized nations, but if we stop public education we will fall off the map entirely.

How can you be sure? Do you have scientific evidence to support your statement?

Didn't the public school system cause the drop?

Fear monger!

Just a comment about the school "rankings" compared to other countries. Please note that we are the only country that provides the "same" educational experiences for all students. Part of that experience are the standardized assessments where these numbers are derived from.

In most other countries students with special needs go to specialized schools or are not granted an educational opportunity. Other countries also, often times, have educational "tracks" in which only students on the "academic" track would take the assessments that contribute towards these rankings.

Like all other data it can be manipulated to show whatever one wants it too.

As for the religion in school, it doesn't belong in public school. That said its the same bit bitchification of America. We bitch about everything. Get the f over it, we are all different. We have a pledge that has religion in it. We shouldn't be surprised to hear people in schools say "one nation under God" every day.

The pledge didn't always have religion in it' date=' for the record.[/quote']

"Under God" was added in '54. Eisenhower sad, of the change, "From this day forward, the millions of our school children will daily proclaim in every city and town, every village and rural school house, the dedication of our nation and our people to the Almighty."

So much for separation of church and state. It's amusing how many folks here proclaim they'll die before giving up their 2a rights, but are happy to have other people's 1a rights violated. The government should be completely neutral on religion, not making kids pledge themselves to God every morning.
