  4. my trick with stiff tires and well all tires now when getting on and off is a tire warmer... toss the rim tire combo on a warmer.. and the replacement on a warmer for 10ish minutes pop off and on... dunlops are still the "hardest" followed by Pirelli fronts then easiest all around in Michelin... of course it is to be noted that I'm mostly doing race tires at the track the few ST tires I have done for friends I use the same technique and it has helped immensely

  7. Thanks Qman... funny you should mention Newfoundland. I spoke to a couple while in Maine who are from there. They handed me a Newfoundland visitors pack titled "The beginning of your Newfoundland and Labrador adventure." From the photos and all the great coastal food I had to add it to my bucket list. (Bucket getting bigger)! Here's a photo from Bailey Island, Maine. Images like this motivate me to ride.

  8. I used to run an insane high compression kit on an air-cooled engine. Had to carry lots of plugs, hot-normal-cold. Won't do that again...

  9. Welcome. Another GSA here (2015). I do long days, but I try not to ride at night. Between deer, other people, and my own poor night vision (thank you LASIK) I find the risk too high! Next time you're in Maine, continue up to Newfoundland...thats an awesome trip! Do you take that BMW off road at all? Ride safe!

  10. Welcome. There are a few mileage junkies here. Day rides of 500 miles are not uncommon. Several of us did an Iron Butt to Mt. Rushmore. Some have an Ozarks trip planned to coincide with the yearly Gap get together. Check out the upcoming Epic Ride thread. Good chance to get your feet wet here. One thing you will see about most of us is that we slab as little as possible. We like crooked roads.

  11. I had the exact same issue on my Nomad with Mobil 1. Never bothered trying it on the Voyager. The Amsoil isn't that much more. And its an oil thread now!!

  12. Update: Got wheel off and broke down. Cleaned with denatured alcohol and 0000 steel wool. Just the curb side had corrosion. My buddy from an ex job showed up with the Devcon and I let him apply it. He skimmed it on, and it sat for about a week. Remount tire, inflate and leak cured; thank you vf1000ride for bringing that up. While I had it off I looked at the metal valve stem's rubber seals. $6.00 at my friendly indy's shop got a new one and all is well. Lost almost nothing since then, and no bubbling around the rim/tire bead since. Life is good.

  13. It's not the compound, it's the carcass and Dunlops are the toughest to change.
