  1. As a side note, Nick, Hal tried to tell me where you work and I walked by but didn't see you. I've never met you, but Hal said that I just look for the guy in 4" with the huge melon head. He might have also mentioned something about being an internet tough guy or something, but either way it was a good time. (more )
  2. Easy sailor, I wasn't on the forum two weeks ago, and I was in Michigan last weekend. You are ornery. We'll see about the 13th, 50% of me being in Chicago, but if I'm not, damn sure be out for the first time with this group.
  3. Yea, it's Tristan Page, he does tits work. Great for CBRs, but I saw that he sold his 600RR to get a different make, so prob not a whole lot of new CBR development in the future.
  4. I actually plan on using the same guy who did my footpegs to do just that, but considering the time it's going to take, it'll be my winter bike-withdraw project, as long as he's still doing it.
  5. I actually bought all the materials to do it myself (drilling, etc.) but as I was whoring around the CBRForum site, I found a guy in FL that has access to what I assume is a CNC drill press, so I took them off and sent him my pegs for about a week, and he drilled them in all aligned and everything. He even powdercoated them while he was at it, and he did a phenomenal job. There's actually 36 of those little bastards in there, and they are surprisingly bright, even during the day. The picture doesn't actually show how they look, because of the slow shutter speed of the camera phone. When they're off, it's all black so you really can't even see they're there, but it's super bright when it's on. Thanks for the + comments from everyone, and to all the CBR folks, I'm just glad to build the army one stronger. Also, I'm really interested in finding rides/events/meets around dayton or at least close, so I'll be keeping my eye out for these things here. And if you see an almost all black CBR around town with what appears to be a 12-year old riding it, it's probably me.
  6. Ok, so it was suggested to me that I post up a quick intro thingy here to say hi and see what this whole OR thing is about. I posted in the Dayton forums, but I should probably have done this first. Apologies all around.... With that out of the way, I might as well get down to business. My first bike started out life as a boring SV650S, but after 4 years of work, things finally got better: New Suzuki fairings Undertail Custom rear signals Lowered suspension Resnorkled intake duct PAIR fix (or you could say I strategically used electrical tape, whatever you want to call it) K&N Filter Chrome windscreen Rear seat cowl Frame sliders Power Commander PCIII It was a fun project bike, and all the work as done by me in my driveway, so I kinda felt that nice connection.....Until a friend asked if he could ride it. Mind you, this was a close friend, and at the time I had just gotten my new bike, so I thought, "hey I have 2, what harm could it do?" That's right, I went there. Sooooo, when he walked back in now 3 minuted later covered in blood on his left side, we all figured out that he actually couldn't ride a bike, and perhaps allowing him to do so was a poor choice. He now owns that bike, and my time has been spent on my new baby, a 2006 CBR600RR. Now, before I show thins thing, let me just say that after riding for 4 years on my SV and getting my license, there is no way on God's green earth that I should be allowed to ride this thing. I'm a little f'ing guy and this bike is a damn bottle rocket with me on it. Letting me have one of these is a lot like training a monkey to perform open heart surgery. I mean, yea, he should be able to pull it of, but come on, eventually this thing is gonna end in tears. Or a chest full of monkey shit, i guess either one could happen. (see how that metaphor worked? It was flawless) Ok, I'm not sure how I got on that, but about a picture of the bike stock with a small power-ranger at the helm? Now it looks a bit better after a few mods: LED front signals Demon Eyes in my headlights (red, of course) Sweet-ass rear LED signals in my footpegs Plate mount with LEDs in my hugger to light the tags Yoshi RS-5 Carbon can Ok, so I think that's it for starters, go on with the comments....
  7. Nick, I caught Hal today, and told him I ran into this guy Nick on a riders' forum. I also mentioned that you said he's not much of a rider, and he said he'd have to straighten you out. This sounds like it could be fun....
  8. Deal, I'll try to hit him up tomorrow....
  9. I've always seen his copper SV and heard who he was, but never met him. He keeps it clean, but doesn't seem to ride it that much. Maybe I just don't see it every time. I ride just about every day I can. Gas is nuts, and I love being able to take on a 911 Turbo and still get 40+ mpg. Plus I'm not a big kid, so the bike is like a bottle rocket with me on it. Lots of cowbell.... If you're talking about having a flashing problem with your LEDs, you'll need to emulate the lamp load for the timer circuit. I have some extra emulators if you want them. Don't spend $90+ for some assclown to sell you power resistors online and call them LED blinker healers or some shit like that, when what he's selling you is worth about $2 tops. I've already done the calculations to figure out the size you need, and I happen to have a couple extra if you want them.
  10. Thanks, I've been trying to get a setup together that let that bike just look a little less cluttered. The body of that CBR has been my fav for a long time, so nothing should get in the way, like that huge snowshovel thing they put on the back of it stock. I'll def give you a message if I'm out around the area soon, I actually think I've seen you in Springboro, if not one just like it. If you go through the 741/73 intersection from time to time, that's where i've seen it.
  11. He, yea that's me, I was wondering why I never saw a Kawi in the lots there. And yea, I've been wondering what was up with that thing covered up in the bike corral. It's not that nice, why even cover it? Probably won't start or something.... What group do you work in, how the hell have I never met any other riders besides Hal?
  12. wait, are there some Kodak employees here, as in the Kodak facility on Research by the Greene? I kinda work there....
  13. I'm definitely in for an upcoming ride, so I'll be checking back here to see when it's set up. I'll be out of town this weekend, but I'm game after that. You're right, those strips have to go, so I guess I'm obligated now.... So what's the outcome of this thread so far? Are there actually any meets worth going to in the Dayton area? And in case everyone knows but not me, what's the deal with the downfall of QS&L? What did I miss about that place?
  14. Hell yes, I love that thing... My SV was fun for a while, but I done just about everything I could to it, from normal bodywork to PowerCommander and even gutting and resnorkling the damn intake duct, and it was time to move on. My friend wrecking it was not quite what I had in mind, but it worked out. And for the other guy with the LED mods on his CBR, I wish I had talked to him before I did all my LED crap, because low and behold, all my blinkers stopped working just like everyone said they would when I took all the lamps out, so I had to make my own lamp emulators at work before I could ride properly again....
  15. Then yea, that was me, I'm kinda LED nuts on my new mods. I have white LEDs fed into my hugger that are my new license plate lights. I also have some LEDs (36 of em actually) in my passenger footpegs as my turn signals that I really dig. I'll hit up a joined thread here soon too, thanks for the heads up.
  16. Alright guys, I'm completely new to this forum, but I wanted to check it out who's around in the Dayton area and see where the hell is everyone during the week/weekend? A year or two ago, I used to ride a Suzuki to QS&L on Wednesdays, but I haven't tried to go back for a long time, so I have no idea what the cool kids are doing anymore. As an aside; if there is some sort of rampant dislike for QS&L these days, I apologize for mentioning them, but it was the last place I ever attended, so I'm completely out of the loop.... And since I'm sure we can all be judged by the bike we have, I thought I'd also throw up a couple pics to let everyone see what I've got going on, and therefore berate me as much as they'd like. The old suzuki - it started life as a stock (boring) SV650S, but ended much better for the journey. This thing as all done lovingly by hand by me until my friend wrecked it in a parking lot. He made it a whole 500 feet before falling over. He now owns it, and is a bastard. But I've since grown up and gone all Honda crazy, so now this is my new baby, which I have again modded with love by hand. No one else will ever ride it. Ok, enough posting, I'll shut up now....
