if you guys tool around Friday after work, I might be interested. Maybe I can show off my off-roading skills again. Everyone needs a talent.

yea, I always throw my extra parts in a pile labeled "weight reduction bin". I figure in about 5 more years, the thing will weigh less than me....that concept works, right?
-
That's it, I'm out..... And I'm officially writing that on every single tool I own for the rest of my life.

A single fatal accident costs the gov't a big chunk of change, and last I checked, that money comes out of my pocket. F that. Every time some dickhead kills himself for being stupid, I get to pay to clean up the mess. We all do. This falls under the same umbrella as daytime running lights for insurance companys. The safer they think we are, the less we pay up front. If some legislation exists to enforce what should already be done, and it keeps some jackass from making me pay more money, than fine my that, I suppose. Like I said, I'm not so bold as to say that I know what's best for everyone and that's that, but I work hard for my paycheck, and I'd like to keep as much of it as possible. (I guess I wasn't done ranting, sorry )

I'd like to agree with just about everyone here when I say that law or not, I wear the seatbelt and the helmet no matter what. I'll never be able to speak for anyone other than myself, but I know I have shit I want to live for, so I'll be keeping my head in one piece, thanks... However, I'd like to be devil's advocate here and just let you know that this argument covers a lot more than some people give it credit for. One major point is that these kinds of legislation exist to ensure that your safety is protected, but also so that the rights of others remains intact. There are a lot of naysayers that think that people not wearing helmets only affects themselves, but it doesn't. The impact is for more broad than that, and all considerations must be taken into account. When an accident results in a fatality, lots of things happen. First of all, nearly all but the must important roads are instantly shut down. This immediately and obviously affects the rights of other drivers. Also, there is a substantial increase in police work that needs to be undertaken, which costs a taxpayer more money. The the medical response is much larger, and that bill must be footed by uncle sam since the person in question is now unavailable for payment. Also, the court system will now unavoidably be burdened by resulting civil (and possible federal) suits brought on by a fatal crash. The laws attempt to stem these things from happening to keep us all in the lifestyle to which we are accustomed. Do I know what's best for the laws? No, I don't think I do, but they are far more complicated than people give them credit for sometimes. Just my $.02

Yea, it's officially official, and if you ask me, HD got it for a steal....

Well, I can tell you this whole thing makes my head hurt. I had such a love for the F4 Tamburini and it's all lost now.... And in my opinion, this is all a marketing/sales move, and is not based on the idea of technology assimilation, though I'm sure that will happen too. HD tried to acquire a "sportbike" division before, and Buell is hardly a decent excuse for that. Swing and a miss there. So, in another attempt to diversify their sales demographics, they'll give it another shot, and probably riun an Italian icon (at least in my eyes) in the process. Like Dweezel said, it's not that hard to make an engine. I'm an engineer, and I even took a Theory of ICE's class for shits my senior year. I can tell you, even an Electrical Engineer can understand that it ain't that hard to make it work (and we suck at mechanical classes), so I don't think HD is in need of an engine education form MV, they just want the name. And yea, HDs designs are stagnant because their demographic is stagnant. Why change your product when none of your customers are smart enough to demand better?
-
now my SV was a machine with just the right amount of room - I could wedge one whole Chipotle burrito in there if I did it just right. Now those engineers were thinking.
-
that's my question too, where is all this 'trunk' space coming from? MY RR has about enough room for half a pack of Rolos if you take the manual out....

just so you guys know, I stopped by there for lunch yesterday and it's closed inside for remodeling right now. Drive-Thru only. Don't know if it's just a temporary/quick thing, but maybe have a backup in mind...FYI

Before I fix it, I'll have to take a picture of the license plate for everyone that didn't get to see it in person. The bike hit the rut so hard, it compressed the rear suspension all the way, enough to make my hugger hit (and bend) my license plate that's mounted under my tail section. For a rider that weighs 125 on a suspension that already has too little preload, that was a lot of force. Next time we bring cameras. I at least want to be able to enjoy my stupidity in the third person next time.

you know, when I was sitting here thinking about how my first impression would go, this really wasn't it.... At least I'll be remembered for something my first time out, Yea, those deer were right up next to the road, I'm glad they decided to turn around and head back instead of just giving it a try. I think they had second thoughts at the sight of that new 1000RR. Fusion, that thing is a mean piece of work. Also, it should be noted that the ride was an all Honda run, which is always the best way to do things.

I want to, but I'll be in Chicago next weekend. I'll get it next time.

Nothing a good washing and a rubber mallet won't straighten out...
-
where is the Sunday thing @10? I might want to meet up and try riding with the group for my first time. Should be nice out.
-
If it doesn't rain, I'll be down to go. I have to ride with some of you here sooner or later. I'll keep checking in here to see if anything's going to happen.

I know, just think if i actually had to deal with mechanical issues, and that huge whale-tail on the back! You're right, thank god i just have a Honda, I don't know if I could handle a Kawi.... (you see how I only started giving shit to the other short kid here, I'm not stupid) -
I'd like to get in on this, but isn't it going to rain like crazy all day?

If we're talking power-weight ratios that limit acceleration, then yea you're right, I've got that 600 damn near the same ratio that most regular sized riders have on their 1k's. I think my big limiting factor is just my ability to wrestle it around. Also, a power wheelie isn't very far-fetched every time you open it up if you don't weigh enough to keep the bow down. -

Hey, at one point, I got down to 119 when I was trying to break into the sub-120 class at my gym by the time I quit about a year ago, so at least I'm not doing that anymore.... -

alright, i'll take a trip down to your neck of the woods Friday then. I'll have to whore around here some more and see if anything is going on next weekend, since we have Thrus/Fri off for the 4th.
