  1. The way Macs are like Harley's

1.Low performance for the $$ spent

    2.More flash than go.

    3.Mac/Apple T-shirts. When's the last time you saw a winblows t-shirt.

4.The Apple store holds how to use classes just like Harley holds learn to Ride courses

5.Highly reliable if you don't modify it too much

6.Way to expensive for the average guy

7.Your buying a lifestyle. the whole I-lifestyle.....I-sheep bahhh bahhhhh

8.Owning one at ONE TIME made you cool...... Not any more.

9.Groupies.....there are people that hang out at the Apple store, just like the Harley dealer

Please add to the list as you think of them.

  2. If you have a temp and cough with sore throat it probably is H1N1. My kids school has it running rampant right now. Both kids and wife have had it. The cough runs 2-3 weeks. Sons cleared in two and the daughter still has it at three. The Pediatrician said keep an eye on them and lots of Tylenol and Motrin.

The CDC said the seasonal flu has not arrived yet so all the flu going around now is H1N1

  3. Could be ball joints

    CV Joints

    Steering Rack

    Hub/wheel bearing

    Could be Struts

    Transmission

Could be struts especially if they are loose at the top because it would change the front end geometry with a pop.

Could be ball joints for the same as above.

Never seen a tie rod end pop and let you keep driving, normally those will make you park it at the side of the road with a pigeon toe look on the front wheels.

Wheel Bearing or hub bearings, never seen one of those make a car swerve when they fail. They are noisy as hell after they loose a roller.

Never seen a Rack and Pinion fail causing the car to swerve, they usually get sloppy or leak.

now the whining sound then a pop. It could be a CV boot failing and then flying off while in motion, that would certainly would cause the car to swerve. I would hope that Firestone would have caught that.

Final drive in the transmission could do that as well.

Brakes dragging would cause the car to pull one way or another, not a spontaneous swerve. I believe the dragging brakes are a problem not the problem.

    Please post what you find

  4. Buying a Mac is like buying a Harley, Your not buying a computer your buying a lifestyle. i-Sheep bahhhhhh, bahhhhhh

I had to laugh, A pharmacy tech bought a mac from the Apple store, Her total purchase price was $2000 something dollars. It came with a year of support and classes, which she was impressed with. She went to the mac courses and hung out with the rest of the mac groupies. She was talking up how easy it was to use. I asked her how much training she received with her purchase........12 hours. My reply was Nice, now how much formal training did she have on Winblows, her response was NONE. I follow up with " do you think if you had 12 hours of training in Winblows you would be more proficient. " She gave me you just hate mac's.

My point is for the amount she spent on the Mac you could replace the PC 3 times for the same amount of performance. A little training goes a long way irregardless of what you buy.

I view computers merely as tools. If you have a snap on budget buy it if it is harbor freight that is ok too.

I disagree with the Mac reliability statements. They fail just as much as PC's

I do agree with the statement they relative immunity to current versions of viruses. That can and will change.

I do agree that the architecture is solid, but that is changing with the entrance of more board and peripheral manufactures.

Upfront cost I laugh at your estimates.

    Antivirus Free Avast

    Officesuite free Open Office

I like open office better than Microsoft office. It will open any file and save it in any file format....out standing. Did I say free. Avast is fantastic too.

  5. The 22 shot to temple will scramble the brain. Seen it a few times. The bullet will penetrate the skull and then bounce around inside the skull.

As a young man I watched my grandmother shoot a deer out the kitchen window with grandpa's 22 hog rifle. The deer was in her garden after all. We had venison for dinner as I remember.

You can kill with a pellet rifle.

  6. There is some really bad advice in this thread.

Advice if you don't know or think you might know you should just keep going.

The advice moose offered would have damaged his multi meter if it was unprotected and possibly got the guy holding the meter hurt. Never ever plug an amp meter hot to neutral without a load or some other way to limit current in line.

The purpose of a GFI is to ensure all of the CURRENT going out on the Hot wire is in Balance with the Current returning on the neutral. the currents coming and going must equal otherwise it will trip.
