I've got a black lab that needs more attention than I have time to give him. Yours if you want it. I got him from my step-brother, who had come to realize that owning a dog in NYC is fucking stupid. My older dog doesn't like playing with him, my roommate doesn't like to help out with the dogs at all, and me being gone for 14 hours for work is too much for him. He's high energy, very loving. Only drools for a few minutes after gulping down water lol. He's somewhere around 70 - 80 pounds.

It depends on where you are at. Some cities don't have money problems, and so the taxes you pay cover ambulance rides. Other cities can't manage money (this isn't a new problem, btw) and figure a good way to make some extra cash is charge for it. This fee helps fund the fire departments, which IMO is one public service that's actually worthwhile. Although it still irks me when local govs have to cut fire budget then charge to make up for it, to cover their pet projects.
