  1. Adding a wristwatch lap timer or Sun Dial, or both?
  2. Man I think I want one of these for when Im walking my dog etc.
  3. Agreed, my friend wont buy a 2011 or newer Diesel because of it. It destroys the options to add power without spending MASSIVE $$, and he ownes his own shop and is a master mechanic lol. Totally rediculous and a waste of money.

    RIP Beer

That happened in Cbus a long time ago with an AHB truck and my friend saw it. He stopped to help the driver with cleanup(it wasn't a roll over just some dumped cases or something). He said the driver gave him and his friends a few cases for helping.
  5. The big 3 have been talking about doing this for years, in Europe Ford had a Diesel FOCUS, getting like 50mpg, looked just like the US Focus back in like 2000ish, but a TD engine. The gov't basically blocked it so we didn't get too far ahead in the mpg improvement and make it too hard for others to obtain along with losing $$ on oil profits. My uncle helped develop the engine when they shipped him over for 6 years. Diesel explorers, expeditions, almost all their passenger cars. Chrysler has had diesel jeeps over there for years, heck in China, there are propane taxi's, propane everything really. Motorcycles, scooters, are also available with diesel engines. The US is too obsessed with HP and all that jazz, not to mention all the top dogs have their hands in oil companies, the other countries aren't.
  6. It's called Clean Idle, its the new fad that the government has seen fit dating back to 2006 and on, starting in CA shipping yards etc. They ruined a perfectly good, International/Ford 7.3powerstroke becasue it isn't a clean idle and they probably can't sell it at a Gov't auction any longer due to the restrictions on them. It's the DEP or whatever fluid that the new diesels have to have added and crap, basically making the trucks exhaust totally clean. Oh and robbing the engine of a ton of power and efficiency. Funny thing is, you can buy a crate 7.3, direct drop in for like 1200 all day long, this would be a dope farm truck with not much in it, and a plow.
  7. Do you like this? No h*m* any tips for using it becasue right now, the other Kershaw I have has it and I hate it. I always feel like I'm about to cut my thumb off, lol. I also hate the locking mech, when folding on the speed assist, I feel like it takes 2 hands to do, which I don't like. Any tips bro? And YES I have small girly hands like I have girly feet, just ask KTMBrian about the boots I sent him for his son, he's 13 I think and has the same size feet as I do LOL.
  8. Yep, lifetime sharpening! I ordered 2 as soon as I sat down at my PC this AM, even though I have another brand new Kershaw back home from Woot a while ago. I LOVE partial serrated blades, definitely multi use and comes in handy. I don't carry my other Kershaw daily because it's a little big and heavy, and the handle is ROUGH, like real rough, but it's my carry when I'm going places with the fiance' and a CCW isn't possible. I like my Kershaw Half Ton's too, had 2, gave 1 to my dad, no partial blades when Woot gets them, but they are tiny little tough guys.
  9. This has been covered many times in other threads too. In the end it is definitely easier/cheaper to buy a built track bike anymore, as the components are there and the work is done. I love building and tinkering too, but in the end, the savings are way better than the fun is worth. I know R1 and I probably got 2 of the best deals in the trackbike history(I ended up paying less than $2,300 with mine, with full suspension, spare set of painted bodywork, OEM shock, and a Brembo MC, after I sold the OTHER spare rims/rains, OEM bodywork, etc. In the end I could have sold both those items and paid less than $2,000 for mine but had no idea what they were worth. I think RVT got a good deal too, but forget the details. Anyways, if it's not on WERA or a reputable site, I would NEVER buy it sight unseen unless I had someone in the area to look at it that knew their stuff. I.E. I would buy a bike from Michigan if Dave Gray went looked at it and said legit, I would buy a bike from Indy if Dubguy did the same, I wouldn't drive to either to look, but I know I can trust them. Actually here ya go, this is where my bike came from NJ, this is a good deal, not great because I feel you definitely could talk them down to like 4-4500 DELIVERED. http://weraclassifieds.com/ads/2006-suzuki-gsxr-600-track-bike-loaded/
  10. Good to hear man, just keep praying, and stay as positive as you can bro. You've got a lot of friends here, and your brother has a lot of us pulling for him and your family.
  11. It came off harsh, but let's think about this, you've run Mid O right? Front straight, beacon is pretty much at flag stand on front straight, I would assume that's the point where most would "start" a lap. On the front straight, how mnay times have you blew by or been blown by? Would you want someone messing with a watch while they do that, or would you want to be wondering in your head as you go to pass someone and set up to brake for T1 if they are? I wouldnt. Remember what Quentin say's every MS even, safety first.
  12. Yeah, Im not trying to be a c*ck, may seem like I was, but I wasn't. More than anything out there, I care about everyones safety, including anyone racing against me. I just would hate to see someone moving around on the track or on their bike, miss a braking marker, and game over. Plows someone, gets plowed, or at Mid O, runs straight in Turn 1, or down the back straight into a sand trap and wad something and theirselves up.
  13. LOL you are too funny!! That isn't serious right? That doesn't give you accurate lap times at all, I mean if you figure that 1-2 maybe 3+ seconds is accurate, but in a game in thousandths it isnt. Think about how many times you are focused on passing someone on the straight at the flag stand, or the back straight, or kink, or whatever you are using as the marker to try to fidget around and hit start stop, there is no way it's clicked at the same time every time. Then again, if it is just for track days and messing around on the track, whatever floats your boat. But in the end that is extremely dangerous in my eyes, when riding at pace, all there should be going on in your mind is that, riding at pace. Not messing around trying to find a button that is smaller than the tip of a finger. In the end, sure, it will work, but again, every lap will be off anything that would be considered accurate. NOTE to those starting off and whoever started the thread, skip 1 track day and buy a lap timer, or ask for one for Christmas, it's way safer and smarter. If you don't want to get an XT, get on motoD or whatever the website is that sells their brand for like 75bux including a beacon. They post in the Wera classifieds all the time about their stuff and people never complain on their undersuits, warmers, or lap timers.
  14. These are standard F150 tires which is a 1/2 ton. For what Hoblick is looking for with his enclosed these are fine. If you are looking at something larger like a big TT or something heavier, you would want a higher load rating. I had these on my 04 F150 and sold them for about the same price WITH 60K miles on them. The guy told me he when I delivered them he couldn't believe they had that many miles on them. He told me he figured he'd get at least 30K out of them, probably more. My dad also runs them on his F150 and loves them, hell he replaced 2 after they had never been rotated because the previous owner never had it aligned, and you can't tell what ones are the new set vs the old set anymore. He's put easily 20K on them. Heck of a deal.
  15. Welp, I lied, I won't be there. That's the dirt track world championship in Portsmoth. Sorry dudes, thought it was the weekend after, but already have tickets and stuff planned for the weekend.
  16. FIRST!!!! You know my love for you runs deep, balls deep.
  17. Since your locations is "here" my guy is located in Columbus, in the ghetto, fixed my truck twice, and my friends truck once. Wayne @ 614-206-7321. i believe he has a guy helping him now. He is solid and CHEAP. I had quoted 2500 for what he did for 850 and had 2 weeks work done in 1 week. I am calling him after winter to fix a bed side as it's starting to bubble a tad, no rust and paint is holding but want it fixed. Tell him John the guy with the Dark Gray F250 sent you. He's good people.
  18. Bro gotta go man, it won't be the same without you. Plus after Beaver running with you was a lot of fun, and then like Craig said we can prison shower, with all of us. It's a lot of fun, trust me, just be sure to drop the soap and pick it up slowly. Plus your bike's running good now after the minor fix, as mine is too with the new radiator lol. Funny how much of a change a cooling feature makes on the bike. Next is to mount the ram air after getting some pics of it inside the bodywork and a good description of how to do it with some foam stuff to hold it. I really wanted to hit PIRC in 2 weeks, but no way I can swing that right now, plus I haven't been home in 3 weekends, and am out this weekend too. We need to plan a mass caravan to Grattan cuz that drive blows too.
  19. Not anymore boya, on that slow new bike you got, you'll have to step it up. Actually what tires were you even running at Nelson, cuz that may have been a lot of it too?? Also being timid as it's not full track yet. SELL THAT old Kawi to R1, it will still be too fast for him. R1 you trying to hit grattan? My favorite track after Mid O, and that's just because Mid O is balla. Actually Jennings was awesome, I need to put that up there, can't wait for this years trip to turn some serious lap times down there. Just hope the Buell guys are there again so I can show them how it's done. PS, this thread turned back straight too fast, ghey it up. F*GS
  20. LOL this thread delivers now. Good times! Sorry Craig, had to. That's payback for hitting that .19 first lap out at Nelson when I was still struggling to hit the teens.
  21. R1 uses a sundial actually, works well for him. Rumor is Craig started using it at Nelson last weekend with his new bike too.
  22. Honestly, the reasons to have one are endless, especially if you want to get serious. Here's why; 1)They record EVERYTHING, weather temp, humidity(I think), date, time, track name, etc. Then you can download that or be cheap like me and just write it in a book. 2)How do you ever know if you are truly improving without it? I know from personal experience, some of my fastest times have been my easiest laps and some of my worst times have been my hardest rode laps 3)People will always try to one up each other, it's human nature. With a lap timer, unless it's not working right(rare I would think as they aren't a space shuttle, but simple electronics), there is no room for argument. They state right there what you just ran, end of story. 4)If you are serious about racing or advancing you just flat out need one, if not, you honestly will never know when to move up groups, or when to move down if needed. There's more, but that's good for now. Honestly, don't get one now, it's the end of the season, 2 months AT MOST of ride time left in OH. So just check WERA, STT, Nesba, here, in 1 month + and you will get a GOOD XT for less than 150 shipped. I guarantee it.
  23. A lot of people seem to use this method actually. No lap timer, no lap times unless you are running a transponder.
