I believe most performance boats have a safety switch. Mine is right below my steering wheel. When running hard or in rough water I'll tether it to my self and if you get bounced away from the wheel it will kill the motors. It's similiar concept as the jet skis.
If it was that choppy the throttle on and off is when the boat and drives actually comes out of the water as to not over rev the motors. Although I only chop my throttle a little bit not fully off when the boat gets air borne:).
Yeah you definitely have to be sharp when running a boat at speed. I only have a 24' boat that runs about 65 but at speed you have to be aware or you can get f'd up. This guy was probably running with some boats to either side of him and got crossed up in there wakes. When he should have gotten directly behind them or gone through the wakes closer to perpendicular.
If anybody is interested I have a used set of Q2's (120F/190R) good for at least 2 trackdays for $60 and I have a brand new 190/55 for $120. Swing by any time Saturday.
You'd actually have to go to a track day to see me:D. I've been to 6 events so far this year but unfortunately haven't been to many motoseries events just because of plans actually falling on those weekends.
Well the track has finally commanded any of my weekend free time. She just sits in the garage looking pretty so time to sell. Got it up on CL for $6,000 but definitely negotiable. http://cleveland.craigslist.org/mcy/3186460860.html **SOLD**
Very interested in this thread. Just received my warmers in the mail today. So i need to decide which tires. My first stab was pirelli supercorsas but open to opinions. I have been running Q2's which I have been relatively happy with. Last tire started to de-laminate on me in one track day so I swapped it out. Did a track day at beaver this past weekend and just shy of the wear bars on a new Q2 in one day. I guess i'm looking for a DOT race that might last 4+ track days. thanks for the opinions.
