  1. Seriously, That Dude could finally fit a whole chick on his screen with that stuff he's been into lately...
  2. Oh for sure, I would say the same is true for Bdruggan and others. I'm sympathetic and I don't give attitude when I'm pulled over. However, officers are not lawyers and the system relies heavily on citation revenue. Somewhere therein this became rationalized. Law school is expensive, the people that know it front to back have to charge for use of their knowledge. So they write books and have expensive rates. None of this does any good to the average Joe being ticketed for going with the flow of traffic 75mph on I-71 (for example). An attorney will not be provided for misdemeanors without the threat of jailtime. He will be prosecuted by an intern and an officer that have assumed him guilty and possess years of experience to their advantage. Proving you "reasonable doubt" becomes very difficult when representing yourself in this environment. The judge or prosecutor aren't going to speak up and let you know what you might have missed in your ignorance of process. "Hey Mr. So-and-so, he just contradicted himself, you should probably point that out." Not going to happen. "Protection" is not the name of the game anymore. Call me a sidewalk lawyer if you want, it's a forum. I'm a guy with opinions.
  3. As do most people, assuming they were in the wrong. Are you going to keep speeding? Probably. Is speed going to cause an accident in your future? Probably not. What are you paying for? Your safety? Nope. Road tax (that may be a misapplication of the law)? Yeah. Personally, when it comes down to it, twisting a law (and thereby abusing given authority) to generate revenue is the part that bothers me.
  4. Sorry about the bike, glad you came out ok! It's always a good wreck when you can laugh about it later (and be mad on the inside).
  5. I started reading your post and then got distrac........
  6. Still, with enough categories there can be plenty of nominees and the regulars will feel included. Special titles, t-shirt, something like that.
  7. Unfortunately it is my experience that without legal representation the odds in traffic court are stacked high against you. Innocent until proven guilty does not seem to exist there. Again, only imho.
  8. Why not a Semi-Annual or Annual OR.net awards thread? I haven't seen one yet, maybe you already do this. Have nominations and voting for 2009: postwhore, flamer, most squidly, best n00b, most notches in the sheep belt, most likely to be at a meet, least likely to be at a meet, etc.
  9. Assumed or "at first view" unlawful to drive above posted limits. If someone drives the speed limit and is hindering the flow of traffic who's breaking the law? The person driving at the reasonable speed or the person that everyone is swerving around?
  10. Aaaah interesting. Some kind of Ghost Rider squad it sounds like. Dudes got the book thrown at them for sure. I can't say it's not a fair sentence, but compare that to someone who runs a bike down with their car and gets no more than 6 months, that's where this story bugs me.
  11. The one in immediate danger, ie: no one.

  13. There was a lot to read here so you can get off the hook. There are two separate arguments going on here. One about unmarked cars and traffic stops and the other about Traffic stops at night where cruisers are "blacked out." The law should interpret itself. Your post, frankly, shows a hell of a lot of bias, and by reading the law itself I would not come to any of your conclusions, especially in the context of this topic. "Random road tax" is the most accurate description I have heard of traffic tickets thus far. Unfortunately the civilian is at a huge disadvantage in Ohio when it comes to defending onesself, not to mention the faith we place in all law enforcement to know the law and have the public's safety first in mind. The system sucks and it gets worse all the time. Disclaimer: This is not a blanket statement, I have a problem with the system and not necessarily all of the people placed within it.
  14. Lately 600's peak power is about 13k rpm but w/ overrev the limiter doesn't kick in until about 15k. 1000's main power is about 11k but kick in about 13k. We are talking about limiters right?
  15. That's one thing I miss from the caging world, autoX. Low speeds, still found a car's cornering limits, cost about 35 bucks to do it for a day.

    @that dude

    Curvy girls grow up to be portly girls
  17. Can't see youtube at work but I think I know the video. The serious guys are always switching rubber before the AutoX. Dude forgot to tighten everything, classic.
  18. lol 6th gear at 40 mph on a new R6 would be less powerful than a vespa
  19. Exactly, anything under that and you're fine. However on a bike it will sound more like BrrrraaaaaBABABABABABABABA.
  20. The bike is Japanese, the motor will be fine however you drive it. For fuel economy ride it as low in the rpms as you want. If you really get on it you're fine until you hit the rev limiter, remember that sound and shift earlier next time. Don't worry about it so much bro.
