  1. I had that on my calendar, but it somewhat defeats the purpose of family time if I'm not out with the family. I'll run it past him, but can't make any promises.
  2. I found out a few days ago that my Dad was in the hospital for some intestinal issues. About 2 years ago, he had a pretty serious heart attack, so I'm heading up to N. Ridgeville just to make sure everything's cool before I fly out to Oregon next week. I should have some spare time either tonight or tomorrow night, anyone want to grab a beer someplace? I'm not sure if I'll be driving up tonight or tomorrow morning.
  3. breakfast is called brekkie as well. Weird stuff talking to Ozzies down there. It struck me being around that culture that there's a puritanical group slowly starting to get control of things from the top down. Between the Australian internet firewall, people like this, and just the overall mood I got a feeling like I was right back home. That was ironic, because I went downtown and saw the signs for Sexpo that was happening in the Brisbane Convention center. I'll leave you to your google-fu.
  4. Ah, well then that makes sense and is kinda shitty.
  5. I brought something a little more efficient.
  6. That hardly seems conclusive, as no two serial numbers are alike. Kinda the whole point.
  7. or gixxie touched it. Either way. Avoid that shit. Extreme mods like hacking off tail sections and putting on another bike's subframe look awesome and are great if you're the one doing the work and riding it, but something that could catastrophically fail like that I wouldn't buy from an untrusted source secondhand.
  8. I can hear the angry buzz of suits being filed. Sounds eerily like vuvuzelas.

    RIP Chachi

    what the fuck?! what happened?
  10. it's amazing to me how many people still think they are using this well for production. Seriously, stop listening to whoever the hell is feeding you this shit, put your critical thinking hat on, pull your big-boy pants up, and go read something that has some actual information on this. I'd start with the daily threads at www.theoildrum.com. LOADS of good information there, these guys are part of the biz and aren't some talking head asshole on TV.
  11. You can keep Fox. You keep your grimy dumber-than-a-fif-grader mitts off Scarlett.
  12. I think I should be able to have a three-way with Scarlett Johansson and Rachel Nichols on demand. That doesn't make it the law, and it doesn't mean I can send forth the police to round their tight little asses over. This is what I'm talking about concerning the erosion of political discourse. Just because you believe something should be so doesn't make it so, even if you see it parroted on Fox News, and Hannity, and Beck, over and over again. Ignorance, or willful misinterpretation, is no excuse. While it's true that it's your inalienable right to bitch about the way the laws are worded or applied, don't get all butthurt when someone corrects you, especially since the part you were wrong about is taught in elementary school. Don't hate me because I'm beautiful, hate me because I'm right. Respectfully, Cheech "The Prez...idential Hammer" Babaganoosh
  13. Also doesn't make sense. Even though it's federal court (while this is state), I think you're after a motion in limine: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/In_limine
  14. I gotta say this doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Cops don't file warrants, judges do. Judges do this all the time without the defendant present. I'm nowhere close to a lawyer, but this doesn't strike me as logical.
  15. thanks for doing the legwork on this one, I was too busy chowing down popcorn. I love free-market worshippers. Glass-Steagall was enacted as a direct result of the Great Depression, and the bank failures and practices that were instrumental to its cause. When it was repealed, it can be argued that that was reducing a significant layer of regulation and oversight in the banking industry, similar to the changes postulated in the article. All that being said, how would you explain the credit crisis, more specifically the credit default swaps?
  16. No. The waves generated by the hurricanes alone would render the booms completely useless, and since most of the boom being put up now was done so improperly (boom is supposed to be V-shaped with some sort of reservoir at the apex, not straight parallel to the coast), they would have to disconnect from the containment cap so all the thousands of barrels they are collecting currently would be released for a week or so as the ships retreat then reconnect. Instead of cleaning up a 500sq. mile (numbers made up) area, you'll then have a 900sq. mile area, including all the oil that washed up WAY far inland due to the storm surge.
  17. that's probably why he's not the governor anymore, he doesn't have time to lead.
  18. No, the fact that he was in here illegally doesn't trump all. Innocent until proven guilty, man. For a bunch of people who claim to cherish the Constitution, it amazes me how quickly everyone dismisses it when it doesn't fit their world-view. Until the laws are changed, if you are caught breaking the law inside of United States territory, you are tried and convicted under the Constitution of the United States. I think that's 5th grade civics class.
  19. Citation, please. That was more what I was expecting. OK. I would ask for references on "most of America" (is that like Palin's "Real America"?), but I understand that would open a whole 'nother thing. You get a pass, this time. Someone tell that to Jesse Ventura (MN) and Angus King (Maine). Both elected as governor independents in the last 20 years. No, I'm pretty sure there are small armies of people in Montana who would relish the chance. Thought you'd never ask. Try to improve the political discourse in this country. Do you really think we're going to advance as a nation and as a society when we have a couple hundred thousand people believing some guy who scribbles nonsense on a chalkboard on national television, or some guy who spews complete garbage like "oil spills are natural and healthy for the environment, it will take care of itself", and decries personal responsibility and defense of marriage while he's been caught with illicit drugs at least 3 times and been married 4? No worries at all.
  20. Great, thanks. So are you just another one of those people who are "just asking questions" and just building up impotent rage or are you actually doing something to change the political climate in America?
  21. I'll ensure it's been signed by Jeter himself before it strikes your melon. That way at least you can say greatness hit you upside the head.
  22. This. Sweet Christ on a cracker, THIS.
  23. Ah, I love the impotent rage. No, you really wouldn't.
