  1. Had a great time meeting everyone, hopefully we'll all meet back up at QS&L this Wednesday.
  2. that is massive, massive fail. I can't believe anyone would be stupid enough to fall for that.
  3. It doesn't seem like too long ago I was in this boat... All the major points have been covered here. Understand that you might be spending multiple hours in this thing, so comfort is essential. With anything you get, run it through some review sites to get an idea of the things you can't find out inside the store, like how noisy it is at highway speed, airflow, so on. If you are thinking about modulars, IMHO Nolan really is your only option. You're staring down $400 easy with this option. I personally have a Scorpion EXO-400 which I love, it's decently quiet at highway speed, and the fitment is good after I removed some cheek pad foam (big ups to someone in OR for teaching me that), and a Caberg Solo which looks cool, has a flip down internal visor, but is louder than all hell on the highway. Just remember this is your head you're protecting here, and you only get one. With helmet tech these days you don't have to go totally into debt to get something sensible, but don't get the 30 dollar Bell special at the Pony either. Hope that helps.
  4. Casper, they don't put up booths if it ends up raining most of the day, right? I wanted to get a sticker from you, forgot about it at the Pig Iron meetup.
  5. Weather Underground now has 90% precip chance with 65% humidity. This ain't looking good. Good news is Friday should be awesome, too bad I'm going skydiving... It figures I get the Kat all ready to go and get rained out two weeks in a row, when I'm in Portland the skies clear out.
  6. +1 here too. Sucks to see about the Wings, but every team gets a fluke every once in a while. Franzen'll pull it out.
  7. I'm hoping the weather holds, I'm in even if I have to cage it up.
  8. Not looking good, 70% chance of rain tomorrow according to wunderground.com. Looking forward to it.
  9. hockey is always better with another rabid fan there... I'm debating going to Coshocton (still haven't synced my carbs), but I would be down for a little viewing party.

I've been a Cleveland fan long enough to know they won't. I can only hope they choke on the road so they don't choke at home.
  11. The bikes being used by stunters are designed to be able to withstand repeated and prolonged wheelies. It goes into the planning and design of bikes like the GSXR, CBR, Yamaha R-series, ZX- and ZZ-series, so on. All I'm saying is just because it's a "sportbike", like my Katana or an Aprilia can be considered a sportbike, doesn't mean that they are all designed the same way to withstand the same things. There may not be lasting motor damage (and with the occasional wheelie there probably won't be) but given the fact that they were never designed to do it in the first place that's not a chance I would want to take with something that could easily do very bad things to me.
  12. I'm not going to tell you you aren't correct, but if you want to remove the flow of lubrication to an engine with ridiculously tight tolerances that's spinning 6 to 7,000 times a minute while on one wheel with a shifting center of gravity and balance point that's totally up to you.
  13. This doesn't necessarily meant that you should wheelie any modern sport bike. Depending on the location of the oil pump and return, some bikes (my Katana for example) will starve the engine the second it goes above 10-15 degress above horizontal. GSXR's and I'm sure CBR's don't have this problem, but you shouldn't assume that any and all sportbike can wheelie without major engine oil starvation problems.
  14. Because you touch yourself at night?
  15. Absolutely beautiful viffer. I'm pissed I took my bike to the Russian body shop across the street instead of to your guy.
  16. +4 for Padron Anniversaries. My cousin got me hooked on 1964's. For when I can't afford a $18 cigar, however, I'm a fan of the CAO MX2's (have 3/4 of a box at home), the CAO Moontrance's, and have a soft spot for the Macanudo Portofino's. I have a dual-blade guillotine cutter which I love at home. The V-cuts aren't bad, I find there's less mess that way but less of a draw. As far as fire goes, give me standard matches any day. I'll use a torch if it's around, but I absolutely will not use a Bic unless it's my only option. It really screws with the taste.

He is now a machine, he will never stop searching the white pages and Google for Sarah Connor.
  18. Very awesome meeting everyone, I can't wait for the next get-together!

THIS. A good friend of mine that helped me get into motos told me this: "Heat doesn't break bones, asphalt does." Please wear your stuff, people. When you run into Miss "85MPH on the freeway while on a cellphone and doing her makeup", you'll wish you had it. If you would like more proof, look up the term dermabrasion. It's the most fool-proof way to get the asphalt and whatever else out of your road rash. If you think that getting a sander put directly to your skin is better than riding with gear, then so be it.

And what a tasty spicy tuna roll we are. Kawi's must be california rolls; sushi for noobs
  21. I'll try to make it as well. I have a black 02 Kat 600.
  22. I'll post some of the header in progress in a bit. The fairings aren't on the body, so I don't have any good light pics yet.
  23. From the Columbus/Westerville area, had my 02 Kat for a few years now. My work on it should be finished in a month or so, look forward to getting back on the saddle, hopefully with y'all. Quick list of things being done: Complete custom exhaust, from-scratch headers, midpipe, re-using stock muffler (repack and welding a larger-diameter pipe through it) Ivan's Stage 1 Jet-Kit with ignition advancer Repaint gloss black with flat clear, trying for a satiny finish. Anyone have any paint booths in the Columbus area that I can either use or pay for someone to shoot this? Red LED light kit
