No no, I'm just shuffling things up in the garage to meet some needs. M3 is not top of the list. "Position" would have been a better word to use
-
Ha. M3 replacement will be a new M3 but not until I'm in a place where I'll use it every day and enjoy it.

Well my personal opinion is that "Do Everything" cars are a bad decision for a weekend only car. I had two of them at the same time I had a sports car, none of them used as daily drivers and every time I went to drive something on the weekends it was the sports car only because it just stirs the soul every drive no matter how impractical it is. One of my Do Everything cars has already left the garage and the other's time is limited. But if you decide on the V, Matt's is an outstanding example and should be at the top of your list.
-
Parked because it was inoperable or parked just to potentially be restored. How bad is the rot on the under side.
-
If you go with the V you should really consider Matt's (MMz06) car if he is really interested in selling. I detailed it last year and the thing is REALLY nice, completely covered in clear bra, great condition inside and out. I believe it was built by Jamie in cleveland and is both fast and reliable.

dunno...it's a benz so parts are "expensive" I guess when you need them but we've really not had any big issues with ours ever, always little nagging things go wrong. I do all of my own maintenance work so I really don't worry about labor rates. We've owned ours 3.5 years and in that time I've replaced one of the air shocks (re-manned units are $400), Drivers door handle because the keyless entry sensor went out ($130), heat exchanger pump ($140), and valve in the A/C system that was stuck ($45). Wife daily drives it and loves it. Ran 12.6 at the trails rental earlier this year with the A/C on and on snow tires They aren't the most involving cars to drive...that's my main problem with it. I'm guessing the CTS and G8 aren't either though. I'm all about driving experience so I'm a little picky in that area.

Throughout this whole conversation I couldn't help but think E55. You can get '04-05's with reasonable mileage (60k) for $22-25. Anyhow, they're comfy, have a million gadgets, 480hp, 500tq, auto and really very mechanically reliable platform. Maybe something to consider.

Does it have to be one of those two mentioned? What's the budget?

new 991 Cup Car. http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q192/ZainoDetail/2013-Porsche-911-GT3-Cup-Left-Front-View.jpg http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q192/ZainoDetail/2013-Porsche-911-GT3-Cup-Right-Rear-Angle.jpg http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q192/ZainoDetail/297499_10151296163922668_54106725_n.jpg http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q192/ZainoDetail/297499_10151296163927668_443170835_n.jpg

I'm going to date myself here a bit but I was out of the scene by '00, we did have a good run between '95 and '99. Aftere that I sold the S-10 and moved on. Forever a gear head, no longer a street racer.
-
Solid choices. E36's have surprisingly hard paint, the Acura paint will be much easier to learn on in terms of seeing results in a shorter working period. Text or call if you have questions or need help
-
E36 M3's have pretty good feel and communication but the slow ratio rack in the early cars ('95's) kills the whole experience for me. Later e36'd had a little better ratio. I'd give steering feel in my old e46 a solid b+. That car was a little slow to react but it wasn't the steering it was the heft of the car resisting direction change.
-
I'm building almost that exact exhaust for the car this winter.

'04. Two different animals though, GT-R is a WAY better street car.
-
Put it in there for track season in case there is any reason you need towed in. Couldn't find the bumper plug when I changed everything back so hook is still in there Just need to take time to find it plus pull the stupid numbers and clean all the rubber off the car. Shoot was a last minute idea

Urban because they were shot downtown and because the guys name that shot them is also Urban Bored thanksgiving morning before turkey dinner this is the result. Forgive the fact that its not been cleaned up that well from track work yet. http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q192/ZainoDetail/0712C2C5-49E0-44A7-B65A-F657FCFCE6B6-2265-00000206773D82F2.jpg http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q192/ZainoDetail/87B9E5DC-F70C-4C2C-AEF9-45EE876792B9-2265-0000020689E409CB.jpg http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q192/ZainoDetail/C7D1B88E-0DEF-44AD-9420-E1EDB505F9EA-2265-0000020697DC4F33.jpg

Pretty sure more recently he was tracking a C5 Vette. Chip knew him That's how I heard about it.
-
Knew his face, saw him at track events but didn't know him. Heard the story last Friday but don't know and didnt pry for any of the history behind it How's that for a relatively useless post
-
Good looking but no 'vert's for me, gotta have a roof over my head. I said I'd never own an SUV either and wouldn't you know I"m shopping for one right now.

Neuspeed warranties the bilsteins. Buy new ones, send bad ones back after installing then get refund I just looked up those ST coil overs, for $750 that's the way I'd go. That's about what my spring shock combo was. I'm picky about height and it took me several attempts tp get my car where I wanted it. Back in the day coilovers were $1500+ and I'm cheap so I went the other route.
-
Neuspeed sells blistein's with additional grooves cut in the shock body so that you can move the perches as you wish. Can't adjust like a coilover you have to take it all apart to do so. Anyhow I have those with intrax springs (they were .25 more drop than any other spring I could find). Blistein's are on the lowest possible perch then I took the rubber spring pads out too which is nearly another .5 drop With that setup it just tucks the tires and sits really well, I didn't like it until I pulled the spring pads thought it was too high Here's my only complaint... It blows rear shocks every year when it gets really cold out. They're lifetime warranty so the keep replacing them but I'm literally on set 5 or 6 of rear shocks. The fronts have been on there for 150k miles and haven't leaked a drop, go figure.

Looking good. Get it lowered stat! FWD Audi's rock
