  1. To each their own, I've had a handful of chebbys fail catastrophically and some junk ass dodges but I've never had any of my fords leave me stranded anywhere. Thanks for the "fix"
  2. So, I bought a 2013 F150 with the 3.7L to daily drive and when I bought it the Y pipe was smashed up. Rather than pay $1400 for a new y-pipe i took it to an exhaust shop today and they were able to fix the leak after cutting and welding in a new section of pipe right after the cat (it was bent up and pushed the cat up so it wasn't sealing at the manifold flange) I drove it home and I noticed what sounds like another exhaust leak on the passenger side but it only happens at operating temp, prior to operating temp it sounds find and we can't hear/feel any leaks using a hose to probe with. It also seems to increase with the AC on. It definitely doesn't sound like bottom end noise but its driving me f'in nuts, any one have any ideas? As a note, fresh oil, levels are good, etc etc. I found this guys video and it sounds nearly identical Truck runs fine, better actually now that the pre-cat exhaust leak is gone.

  5. Well, that is worked out. They are paying for the y pipe and I am calling it even at that. Thanks for the all of the suggestions guys. Mean while, I'm going to take it to an exhaust shop and have the y-pipe bent back out :gabe:
  6. Yeah, honestly the exhaust issue isn't that big of a deal to me, the warranty issue is and the title issues. They have responded to the BBB reply but apparently do not have to reading comprehension to realize that the exhaust leak has nothing to do with the aftermarket muffler. "We are not aware of any aftermarket exhaust on the truck, neither the salesperson or the sales manager. Maybe since it was a Ford and not a Dodge and we didn't notice if the exhaust was factory or not. And as for the title we just talked to the Credit Union and we will be having this handled within the next 7 business days and also getting Mr. Briggs a new temp tag so he is legal. So with the exhaust we feel Mr Briggs had enough time to test drive the truck and look it over before his purchase, the truck was safe and a sound truck to be sold. We are sorry there is an exhaust leak but don't feel we are responsible for this repair Mr Briggs wants done."

I honestly think this is just a case of someone at the dealership dropping the ball, they had the truck on their lot for 28 days before I even came to look at it so they have had 69 days total to get the title transferred into their name which it still isn't as of today (the credit union checked on that this morning)
  8. Driving the truck back isn't a problem. I've documented everything I can on my end, I've got complaints in with the BBB, Attorney General as well as the bank that holds the loan on the truck (and they don't seem to happy about the situation) The bank has also sent it over to their legal and compliance team. I've got 3 statements along with quotes for the repair of the exhaust crap from 2 independent shops and 1 Ford dealership. I'm waiting for the person at the AG that handles the TDRF cases to give me a call back but from the sounds of it if the dealer refuses to refund the AG will refund it and go after the dealership (just not sure of what all that will take yet) At this point I'd be ok with them paying for the $1400 y-pipe and calling it fair, and it would be a lot cheaper for them to do that than to pay for the $27,000 truck loan and the $25,000 fine from the AG. Waiting to see how it plays out
  9. It's been 40 days so under the Title Defect Recission act I have the right to request that the deal be canceled and a refund be issued so I'm going that route. Every time I call to find out there the title is at they jump around the question
  10. So this thread is a month old at this point and I've run into other issues with the dealership. I'm assuming these dealerships will sit on titles for a week or two so they can run them to the BMV to do the title work in batches. It's been over a month and I still haven't gotten a title and my Ohio temp tag expires on Sunday 10/4. I had to file a BBB complaint and get the bank involved before I could even get the GM at the dealer I bought it from to call me back and now magically they're "working on addressing" the issue with the exhaust leak. They said they haven't even received the title from the previous owner yet and they had the truck on their lot for a month before I bought it. Is it common practice for these dealers to sell vehicles before the title has been placed in their hand from the prior owner/lien holder?

    From a professional perspective, I didn't have a wealth of experience from the development side. I started off young writing punters and other various nefarious applications focused around AOL. From there it grew into a hobby and I moved to delphi and then to c++ (using borland compilers) which later progressed to doing java and c++ in Linux (which fanned out into typical scripting languages such as bash, python, perl, TCL, etc) I then started doing freelance web development utilizing ASP, PHP, Perl, MySQL and PostgreSQL, I did a bit of tooling development at a call center I was working for but that was really it as far as professional experience prior to Chase. Initially when I was hired on at Chase I was brought in as a systems engineer to support WebSphere primarily and my saving grace for not having much professional experience let alone any experience with WebSphere was the fact that I knew Linux and programming logic. From there I wrote a bunch of tooling around monitoring, log parsing and performing system/application health checks (aside from CA Wiley) and eventually moved into a dual role of doing application support and breakfix development (primarily logic fixes) That led me to where I'm at now (Dell) in what is essentially a DevOps role which has been mostly proprietary application support and automation of day to day tasks. I have tried to stay away from being in a primary developer role because I honestly don't want to do it for a living as I think I'd get burnt out pretty quickly so the DevOps gig is a good mixture of engineering and development. What I can say about the market currently from my recent job search is that there are an abundance of Java (building within Tomcat, WebSphere, and other application sever frameworks are common place) positions out there as well as .NET. I personally would prefer the later or vanilla c++/c# but that is because I have a serious distaste for the overhead that Java introduces into your environment but that is just the engineering side of me talking.

The cheapest ones I could find were without cats for $400, so I'd have to order hptuners too (since it supports the 13' 3.7L) There aren't any tuners/dynos here that aren't 3+ hours away I'm pretty sure I may order an hptuners cable anyway for the F150 and the mustang. This way I can also fix the DBW shit on the F150 (the table is pretty conservative from the factory as I understand it)

    Worked there for 3 years as a "Systems Engineer" doing application support (WebSphere, WebLogic, java, other proprietary applications, on AIX/Linux & Windows) and also as an Application Developer. I spent 90% of my day arguing with idiots (internally) on the phone, battling for the chance to speak in conference calls and working through red tape/gray areas & change management, the other 10% actually doing work. The pay is *generally* on par with the market but I got shafted coming in, the benefits are decent, I don't know if its still the same way but I got 3 weeks of paid vacation off the rip. To give you some perspective the last year i was there I was making $72k/yr and received a 12% performance bonus If you can deal with the politics (including reorgs every other month it seemed like), red tape and change management policies it's an easy place to work at. I would still be there if I wouldn't have received a much better offer. Oh yeah, Polaris also has nice ammenities on site, including a Star Bucks, 3 cafeterias with crap tons of different options (one is primarily a sandwhich shop that has dunkin donuts coffee), a little convenience store type deal, a fedex (or is it UPS? can't remember), a doctors office, an enterprise rental, and a dry cleaner. As everyone has said already though, parking sucks. Luckily I worked 3 12's and was only in the office on Fridays for meetings for about 4 hours or so

  17. I'm going to take it to an exhaust shop this week (all of them are closed on the weekends here). I think if they bend the rear of both sides it'll probably get straightened out enough to seal at the flanges. I talked to the dealership and they basically said I'm SOL, however they will sell me the parts at their cost so if i *have* to I'll go that route. If an exhaust shop can just bend them out enough to seal I'd be happy with that, this is just a beater truck (3.7L SXT) for daily driving and hauling crap from lowes PM sent, thank you sir!
  18. So, I traded in my SUV for a 2013 F150 last week. I was in Columbus and found one, one thing I noticed is it had an exhaust leak. I looked under it and noticed the last owner had a flowmaster welded in and had removed the resonator so I figured it was probably a bad weld/loose band clamp or along those lines. Rather than screw with it myself I drove it back to SC and took it over to a shop where they found that both sides of the Y pipe were bent and pushed all the way up to the floor pans which is causing a leak at the manifold flanges. So i start looking for prices and what do you know.. $800 for the passenger side of the y pipe and $450 for the driver side. The truck was listed as still having a factory warranty but apparently it doesn't per ford (not that it would cover this) and there was a bunch of other small items on their repair order that they didn't actually fix. It's been 6 days since I bought the car, is this worth fighting with the dealer over further? So far they have offered to sell me the parts at cost but I'm going to take it to an exhaust shop to see if they can rework the pipes. If I have to replace them I'm pretty sure I'm just going to order a catless Y pipe for $400 and an hptuner cable and call it a day.

So I've been debating on what I want to replace my daily with (saab 9-7x) I have a few cars in my list but the more I look at the ISF the more I like it. 1) E55 AMG 2) C63 AMG 3) 3.5 ecoboost F150 ( i know, kind of out of place) 4) Lexus ISF (2010+) I'm looking for something somewhat sporty but closer to the luxury side and the ISF seems to fit the bill so far, I'm assuming it will also have a lower cost of ownership compared to a Mercedes. The closest ISF to me is about a 3 hour drive, going to try to test drive it this weekend. The one thing that concerns me is the ECU (it seems there are no tuning solutions aside from a standalone) I likely wouldn't mod it, but you know how that itch gets. Anyone have any opinions on the cost of ownership, quality, or in general on the ISF?
  22. I may have come across as harsh, if so I apologize but this post really made me think back to my financial struggles between the period of being a teenager (18) and now. So let me give you my back story and some advice... I got two credit cards quite literally the day I turned 18, big mistake.. I wasn't mature enough to handle any line of credit. Not too sure how old you are but it sounds like you're in the starting stages and off to a bad start. Long story short, I maxed out the credit cards, had to resort to 300% (or whatever they were at the time) apr payday advances and almost lost everything. I was living beyond my means, I was close to 40k in debt making 34k/yr. I never defaulted on a loan, never had a late payment and never filed bankruptcy but believe me I fucked up and royally and I paid for it for the next decade, I was single with no kids so that made it easier. I'm worried you're going to find yourself in a similiar position. Fast forward to today, I'm virtually debt free, credit scores in the 800s and I don't have to worry about where my next meal is coming from. It sounds like doing a title loan is a bad idea, if you can't pay off the $1900 you owe now can you afford to buy a new car if it gets repossessed? If you can afford the bills without doing the title loan I would avoid that at ALL costs. The title loan may lower the payment and be affordable now but what would you do if (heaven forbid) you lost your job? It can and does happen, it's happened to me, I'm sure it has also happened to others on this board. You need to navigate around this entire situation very carefully because If you make the wrong choice here it may snowball and become an uncontrollable mess where you are living paycheck to paycheck and could affect you for years or even longer. I think putting anything up that you own outright for collateral is a bad idea unless you have funds on hand to replace it, especially your primary means of transportation.

  25. It has 8 ram slots so it *should*. I would potentially be interested if you were willing to ship (i'd pay for shipping) it which I'm assuming you wouldn't be.
