  1. Ok, so what's up with this Polar Bear Run? We just ride out and get a pin? Is there a ride involved? Anybody going? Been away from the forum for awhile, and the bikes for that matter, but this sounds silly enough to be fun...and not too far of a ride. I usually try and make a short ride every New Years anyway...didn't know I could get a pin for it:)

  2. Finally got to the range last week. Got a Taurus M85 I needed to shoot.

First 5 shots were to the left, adjusted grip, second 5 were much better-

Rented a S&W .500 Mag, these were the second round of three shots-

And this is why I like my 1911-

  3. from Wikipedia:

    Trigger actions

While the earlier standard versions of the 24/7 pistol came equipped with double action only triggers, the later Pro models and some of the OSS pistols sport double action/single action triggers, allowing for a safer and harder long double action initial trigger pull, with the action for all subsequent shots being cocked by the first, resulting in a lighter and more concise single action trigger pull. This system allows for two major advantages, one being that the pistol can be safely carried with the safety off for faster first shot capability, and the second being that if a round misfires, the trigger can be quickly pulled again in double action mode, repeating the attempt to fire the recalcitrant round. This type of DA/SA system, pioneered on such firearms as the Walther P38 and PP/PPK, is much faster and simpler than the standard tap, rack, bang method of clearing a dud cartridge.[5]

  4. My Taurus 24/7 pistol is a hammerless design. I carry it chambered and trust it. When you chamber the first round, the firing pin is in a relaxed position, not pulled back against the spring. The first trigger pull is DA and pulls the firing pin back, gun goes boom, cycles the next round, and locks the firing pin back for SA action for following rounds. It also has a manual thumb safety and internal firing pin block. So carrying it with one (the first one) chambered should be extremely safe, and I like the SA for follow up shots.

  5. I get cut off..about run in to..pulled out on..passed just to have the person hit the brakes and turn..and that's in the big truck...If they can't see or have no regard for a big white tractor trailer..how can they be trusted to pay attention so something as small as a bike..I try to ride in an open space..you can speed up or slow down..just away from the crazy cagers.Everyone should have to spend a week in a big truck and on a bike before they get their license...jmho

    RIP Rider

  6. I dont give them anything. They had the same chance at life as I did, why should I give them what I work for. Hell, the remind me of the Democrats equal redistribution of wealth:nono:

  7. I changed the oil in both my bikes a couple weeks ago. I wanted to switch them both to synthetic, and run a heavier oil in the Shadow, as the top-end makes allot of noise when hot (common Shadow problem I'm told). I also wanted to find something locally, that would be on the shelf when I wanted it. After some comparison shopping I ended up buying Mobil 1 4T 10w40 for both bikes. I was looking at the Amsoil, but my local dealer only had 3 quarts on the shelf. Like I said, local availability was a main concern. So far so good. The Shadow is much quieter (probably due to heavier weight) and the Interceptor seems to like the Mobil 1. We'll see at the next oil change. The Honda oil I put in the Interceptor at 500 miles came out "milky" looking at 3000. Didn't like that at all.

  8. does seem kind of hard to do, mathematically speaking, of course.

That's all I'm saying, I'm sure there are a few variables missing that would tell the full story. It's just funny how the media always makes it sound like the motorcyclist struck the vehicle with no other choice. We (motorcyclists) always seem to be getting the bad rep no matter what happens at an accident.
