  1. I'll have to go through the recent posts and add them to my original post. I wish I had time to map them out like I had planned...life kind of got in the way.
  2. This is good news for riders that commute to work and/or ride to downtown Cincinnati frequently: The City of Cincinnati took a big step last week to help out the two-wheeled motorists traveling in its borders. They voted to set aside funding to maintain, improve and expand a free parking program for motorcycles and mopeds in Cincinnati. The next two spaces will be built in Clifton; one on McMillan and one on Calhoun streets, in the next two months. Read more...http://www.soapboxmedia.com/devnews/0928scooterparking.aspx I've got my spot at 4th and Elm.
  3. OK, so I'm not crazy. I looked at the forcast this morning and read sunny with a 10% chance of rain. However, I got soaked on my ride home today. What happened? Oh well, I made it home safely. I had a good Ride to Work Day!
  4. Same here. I'll be riding. And I hope to see more bikes than usual on my daily commute. Be safe.
  5. I'm also running the RoadSmarts now. I've had them for over 6000 miles and I've probably got 3000-5000 more miles to go on them. Currently, I'm mostly doing highway commuting (50 miles a day). But I'm confident enough with them to take them to the edge when I get out on the weekends. I'd like to try the Pilot Road 2, which cost a little more and are designed to work better in the rain (for those few chance I hit rain).
  6. I've been using it for a couple of years and recommend it.
  7. Wow, you guys get to have all the fun. I've only had a bird take off from the side of the road and fly into my clutch lever (happened Monday). No damages, but freaked me out a little.
  8. Pulled some more from the ohios best roads thread: http://www.ohio-riders.com/showthread.php?t=56093&page=2 We hit 50. I'd like to map all of these, but that probably won't happen anytime soon given my schedule. And I'll probably need clarification (start and end points) on the roads where I only have a number. Thanks for the great responses.
  9. Yesterday was cold. 31 degrees at 6 am, but I survived my 40 min. commute. My hands warmed up after about an hour and a half. At 55 MPH, the wind chill was 12 degrees! I'll commute when the low is above freezing and there's a 40% or less chance of rain. But I'm thinking of just commuting regardless of the rain chances this year. Commuting saves me $3+ a day, because I don't have to pay parking.
  10. Thanks. I added these to the list. Is 147, 678/664, 26 a route or just three random, good roads?
  11. Added these to the list. I'm going to have to look these up on a map when I get a free weekend.
  12. Updated again following the list of roads posted to the ohios best roads thread... http://www.ohio-riders.com/showthread.php?t=56093
  13. More roads to check out this year. I think I've added all of the roads mentioned above to my list of "50 best roads" (we're not to 50 yet)... http://www.ohio-riders.com/showthread.php?t=37386
  14. How about the Bell Star Cerwinske in Medium (I think?)?

    Z-1000

Good review whaler. Just to clarify, the 07 ZX10R shock is a direct swap for the second gen (see link): http://www.riderforums.com/showthread.php?t=45802 I remember reading that the ZX6R was slightly different and not as easy to swap. Cheers!

Those are some nice pics, and they show the attention to detail. Thanks for the link.

I was wrong. I found the one I was thinking of. It's close, but I don't think it's the one you're looking at. I like the one you're looking at better. http://www.riderforums.com/showpost.php?p=535297&postcount=1

    Z-1000

Nice looking bike. And it looks familiar, like the current owner is a member of riderforums.com. Someone on there has a great looking first gen in white.

I understand. Some people just can't handle it. The B-King would be a beast. Good luck.

I've got an 07. I got it a few months after selling my 05 ZX-6R. I missed riding, and I wanted to get another Kawasaki. At the time, I didn't like the 07 6R or 10R and saw a pic of the Z1000 with the Two Bros exhaust and that kinda sold me (although, I ended up getting a fully Akra system!). I bought the bike without ever seeing it in person (well, I think someone passed me on one just before I bought it). There are times when I think it'd be cool to have the 09 6R (or 05 10R...but I digress). However, every time I ride my 07, I remember how much I like it. It's different and usually gets a lot of looks. I commute with it and rode to Florida last year (hope to do that again next year). And I can hold my own with it on the weekends when pushing it. Mods? There's the exhaust, airbox mod, bars, mirrors, and whatever else you want. Compared to the first gen, the second gen has better suspension and brakes, but the ZX-6R components on a first gen would be better than what I've got on my 07. You might hold off and try the 2010 Z1000, which looks solid. Questions?
  21. There's an interesting idea. I'd never thought about just bringing the tires in for the winter. I don't think my wife would mind them sitting in our bedroom for a few months. (Edit: She would mind if I brought the entire bike in house.)
  22. Ha! When I'm out riding with my Dad, I'll stretch my feet out like I'm on a cruiser (what he's riding) and--to get back at me--he'll tuck. He looks goofy in full tuck on a cruiser.
  23. Amazing! Thanks for sharing your site. The pictures were great. A few years ago, my wife's uncle road from Florida to Alaska, but I don't think they went all the way to the Arctic.
