  1. Must've been the fact that you had to push the Ducati everywhere. I don't blame the girls.
  2. Truth. And the Milles have a couch for a passenger seat in case you do need to take the wifey somewhere.
  3. RC51 if you like riding. CBR1K if you like soul-less reliability, ridiculous speed and being that "me too" guy. My opinion. RC. Of course I'm biased, but they are very unique bikes, they are fun to ride, people in the know will sit there and ogle at it when you pull in. They are not that slow. The V-twin power makes the bike lots of fun to power out of the corners. You said two-up would be very infrequent? Where are you getting your opinions on the harsh ride and lack of comfort on the RC? I've ridden my roommate's bike a bit now and I find it's not bad at all. It's no couch, but the ergos are very close to all of the other supersports. The one weak link is the rock hard seat, but that can be changed easily.
  4. Bump, these need to go. I'm sure someone here has small hands.
  5. At first I thought the red oil pan was goofy, but now that I look at it, it breaks up the black/silver theme very well. Nice pick-up man.
  6. I didn't ride...at all. Eff Ohio.
  7. Just picked up a new gray A* Stunt for $260. Mmmmm, can't wait for riding season.
  8. Yeah, none of the bike stuff happened today. I'm staying home and saving money. Hopefully we can get together another time Brandt.
  9. The bike is overpriced to begin with. Look at the market of RCs right now. Second, I know how that goes. I looked at a Mille and it was a little iffy but the price was okay. I went back with cash the second time and it was even more scratched up, and the guy didn't even want to change the price. Fuck em' It hurts a little to walk off on the first one you find but there's always another one you may stumble onto.
  10. Damnit people. SS brake lines have zero to do with brake fade. You're boiling the fluid. That's your brake fade. SS lines will do no better job at removing heat from the system than regular rubber lines. Longevity and strength is the reason for SS. And yes, I know that this is exactly what IP just posted.
  11. Prison time with Bubba while the guards "look the other way"? I'd support that.
  12. I had a guy at a gas station come up to me one day and go, "That's a great lookin' bike. What model Honda is that?" Before I could figure out how to answer he goes, "What kind of motor does Honda put in there nowadays?" I'm not sensitive and I wouldn't neg rep you. I am passionate though. Personally I'm okay with Aprilia not going mainstream, more exclusivity for moi. But when you start improving more and more you tend to get noticed. I don't think this is going to kill RSV4 sales. Most people who have the money for these bikes are not out looking for the best in class at the cheapest price with the best reliability. They know what they want and they're going to buy it.
  13. Let's see. RSV4-R/Factory (apparently bad?) Tuono RSV-R RSV Mille Shiver 750 Mana 850 RS125 RS250 RS50 SXV 4.5 SXV 5.5 (bad) SX50 SX125 ETV1000 Caponord Pegaso 650 Aprilia Futura Dorsoduro 750 RSV Tuono 1st gen I've listed the so called "bad-apples". Yes, I see a distanct lack of a track record here. You're right.
  14. What part of "it's not an Aprilia issue, it's a supplier issue" are you not getting? Yes, second rate. That's why my bike has 35,xxx miles on it with no major issues and no rebuilds. Same with Coyote and RFM.
  15. Hourly rates for a custom tune on the priller? I have a slip-on, intake mods, PCM chip, PCIII serial.
  16. Dude. If what I've heard is correct, and the conn rods are the problem because they are cracking, YOU CANNOT DETECT THAT until one fails. If it's a bad casting of the rod it won't be detectable until the engine gets put under some good load. Like I said it's an undetectable supplier issue that only started popping up while in the field. As much as you can try to control that stuff, it happens. How about Yamaha's spun bearings on the 06-07 R6s where they refused to admit the problem and just dealt with the failed bikes as they came in. Sometimes telling owners to pay for the labor.
  17. Yeah, I was worried about parts too. Luckily AF1 Racing has everything I could possibly need and now that these bikes are cheaper and the squids that are in-the-know are picking them up there's tons of parted out bikes On a side note, all of the testing they have done probably wouldn't have caught this issue if it really is the conn rods. Aprilia doesn't cast their own rods. So they get the rods shipped in, they install bearings, and they build the engines. Now they are in "oh shit" quarantine mode, locking down the parts supplier, getting all the engines back to normal, and pulling bikes back in from owners. I can't even imagine how costly this will be.
  18. In house motors. The SXV was their first in house motor and it had oiling issues. (Aside from the fact that it's a damn race motor not meant for the street. Lol) The V4 in the RSV4 is their first in-house superbike motor. It's unfortunate that things like this are happening but that's the growing pains of developing and building your own motor for the first time. I will be the first to say that Aprilia service, parts, etc outside of the bike itself is shit. Getting parts from Piaggio? Might as well just sell the bike now. So I'm very impressed that they are moving on this quickly and taking the necessary steps. They've got a lot riding on the RSV4.
