  1. Wasn't suggesting that you do the entire length of 215 to Waynesville, although the north side is pretty where it wanders along Lake Logan. You can connect to the BRP at the top of 215 and just head east from there. Be about the same time as the original route. The other little side trip you can do is drop down 151 from the BRP just east of the 276 junction, run it to the bottom and then head right back up. Tricky little section know as Devil's Drop (I think). Guy rode it with our group a few years ago and boiled the rear brake on his Triumph Rocket 3 on the way down.
  2. Unless you're dead set on running the BRP for that many miles on Day 3 (not my idea of fun, given that it'll be populated with leaf peepers and clotted with RVs) I'd suggest taking 281/Canada Rd out of Tuckaseegee all the way to Lake Toxaway, then 64 over to 215 up to the BRP. Gets you off the crowded and boring sections of 107 and 74. Little diner at the corner of 107/281 to catch a lunch.

  4. Ah, I love the good natured banter on this forum...even if y'all are assholes. My only hope is that if I do manage to make the trip, I'll become an overnight OR legend based strictly on my epic farting skills...
  5. Oh. So you're saying you've got this handled? Well, I'll just go back to surfing for internet porn then... Still might be able to make this, tho. Maybe y'all can learn me a thing or two about ridin'. 'Course, I might slow you down...IJS
  6. I know you guys love the Gap area, but it's so overdone....a lot like the 10/22 route in NKY. High enforcement area with artificially low speed limits to dampen the fun factor and increase revenue. Have you ever thought of staying a bit further south in the Franklin area? Not that much further, still close enough to the Gap and other roads in that vicinity to make a day ride out of it, and an easier run to the great roads in northern GA--28 south to Pine Mtn (even great into SC!) then east on Warwoman thru Clayton on 76 to 197 around Lake Burton, 356 over to 348/Richard B Russell Hwy. And if you never ridden the circle loop of 215-276 between Brevard and Waynesville, DO EET!!! The south side run on 215 from the BRP to 64/Rosman is one of the best race tracks in the area--good enough to run it down, then back up just for giggles--with no LEOs and very little traffic. Also sample 281/Canada Rd and 1001/Elijay/Tilley Creek Rd while you're in the area. Given the timing, I might actually try to make this one if the stars align.
  7. Since this thread has been successfully hijacked by midgets and street racing squids, I have to leave this here. Why do I think @Tonik when I see this? Well shit...that didn't work. Still an old techno-grouch, I guess...
  8. You mean because you can't get low enough with standard bars and an upright riding position?
  9. Wow. Now, I feel really old. The earliest news stories I remember are all from the mid- to late-50s and early 60s. I remember my Dad and Mom being shocked at the Rosa Parks arrest (over refusing to give up her seat on the bus to a white person) and having long conversations about discrimination, segregation and the resulting bus boycott in Montgomery AL...but they were both Canadian so maybe not so surprising. I remember the desegregation of the public schools in Little Rock, AR, and the National Guard escorting the little bIack girls into the building. I remember reading about the push into supersonic flight by the X-2 program. I remember Gary Powers being shot down and captured by the Soviets. I remember both my parents discussing the political ramifications of the failed Bay of Pigs invasion, and their fears about a nuclear war between the US and the Soviets during the blockade of Cuba in the early 60s. They were so concerned about what might happen, they seriously considered leaving the US and going back to their families in Vancouver, British Columbia.
  10. @Casper Very nice find. Thanks! Shared with riding friends.
  11. Holy zombie thread revival...
  12. No one has suggested Pirelli Angel GTs? Had 'em on my Zed1K and my FZ1 and absolutely loved 'em. Sticky in both dry and wet. Decent...maybe above average wear mileage. Definitely go with the 55 profile on the rear!!!
  13. Might I add...more modest and handsomer, too!!! ;<)
  14. No issue if you loan it to a "friend". Any money changes hands and it creates a problem. Big liability issue I see is that it's prolly not financially/legally wise to lend a motorcycle to a non-licensed driver. Definitely opens up a can of worms. This is a definite no-go for me unless the rider has a valid endorsement.
  15. Hey...I'm old, maybe overly trusting, but even I'm not getting in the middle of this one!

    4 grand

@Tonik Damn, dude! Did you have to file a route plan with the ODOT HazMat team to get that stuff home? Or did you just contract with the Ohio National Guard to air-drop those skids of munitions to your house?
  17. I agree 100% with @Strictly Street!!! Any weekend between the hours of midnight and 3 AM and just about any time on holiday weekends, I have always referred to those times on the roads as "Amateur Hour"....with all the terrible things that go along with drinking, driving and stupidity. Not to mention the giant woods rats with big brown eyes tend to wander across highways during those hours. Certainly wouldn't write it off completely, as the temps are perfect that time of night, but I'd make it a short ride at an easy pace.
  18. Hmmm. Based on the wear on those teeth, I'm guessing you at 55 +/- 3. Your sister is hawt!!!
  19. Oooo! So you're saying that OhioRiders has turned into what the Assfault Junkies forum was about 4-5 years ago? Can't wait to see how this sits with the Old Guard on OR...
  20. Bubba

    Slingshot review.

Wow! This thread just took an unexpected and existential turn...on Ohio Riders, no less. Who'da thunk it? As for giving up my moto addiction to help the homeless, the Republicans said that homelessness is a choice and they actually like living under bridges.
  21. Edit: Saw that he broke the motorcycle record. Makes sense now. Still, helluva run!
  22. So did he break the overall PPIHC record? Or the bike class record? Hard to believe that a "stock" NA 1290 SD could outduel the 1000+HP supercharged/turbo'd race vehicles. I've ridden PP and the penalty for failure is pretty damn severe over nearly the entire length of road. Between sketchy pavement, the Armco/big rocks/trees to hit, the precipitous rock cliffs to either smash into or fall off of, this is right up there with the IOM TT as far as requiring BIG BALLS OF STEEL.
  23. 3 mile RT = 6 miles x 4 = 24 miles!!! Even better.
  24. Bubba

    2.1 miles.
